I was reading about the X VP44 pump on Blue Chip Diesel's web site and they say that pump could effect emissions. Has anybody had a problem passing an emission test because of this pump?

I've had the X pump on my truck for over a year , I dont have emissions but I can tell you this past summer on a long road trip I got 25 MPG . I love this pump , thanks Chip.

They say it could affect emissions because of the timing advance it provides. Advanced injection timing tends to increase NOx emissions somewhat.

Keep in mind that lots of fueling boxes also advance injection timing, and I've yet to hear of anyone failing an emissions test running one. I wouldn't worry about it at all, and in fact when my VP44 goes it'll get replaced with a Blue Chip Special X pump.

I just installed a special X last week. It may smoke slightly more, hard to judge. I can also drive it clean. It all depends on your right foot and turbo rpm. The pump does seem to give the motor a louder rattle at idle and low rpms. Don't get me wrong - I like it. It also seems to make smooth shifts with manual transmission unnoticeable. Didn't tow or check millage yet.
