'04 Ram. Does anyone make cheap 17" stamped steel wheels?

They've started with the new Durango - we're doomed...

Hi guys. Just installed my FMS premium tonight. I took her for a spin without the fueling on since I am saving money for a pump, just in case!

Anyway, my fuel pressure sender is giving weird readings. 13-15 at idle but then jumps while driving, to 19 or 20. Hmmm!

And what should my boost be reading? I only saw a peak of 12, remember this is all stock readings while driving.

Nick

The boost should be a lot closer to 18 psi stock and maybe the ground is bad on the fuel pressure sender? it only has 1 wire doesn't it? It grounds through the pump/banjo bolt. That is all I can tell ya.

Craig

Nick,

I remember going through the same amazement with Jeff's truck:D . If I remember right, the FMS will only tell you if the pressure is low, not what the pressure is. I don't remember what the number you're seeing is actually for though.

Matt

Thanks guys

csevers, Matt,

Jeff (jrandol) just PMed me. I guess it is a low pressure warning only and other than that it reads the pulse rate of the injection solenoid which can be used to tell how the pump is performing.

Also, my box may need to recalibrated for my year of truck to read proper boost numbers since this box is for an '02 and I have a '99.

Matt, you know I am not as BOMBed as you and Jeff but if you ever wanna go play let me know, I haven't been to Loveland or Greeley in a while

:D

Nick

Which clutch do you plan on going with Matt? I am looking for one too.

Anyone install them in Loveland cheap?

My buddy got a SBC OFE on his 98 12V installed by a friend for $200 so... . Maybe I can hook up with him.

Also, Matt, did you run full power with your mods on your stock clutch? How long did it last total (from mods til now)?

Nick

Righty O there Nick. Calibrate your box to a 99 model truck I bet that clears it up.

I think Matts clutch went trying to keep up with me!! :D  :D :D

Hey Nick,

I think the number you are looking at is the VPM fuel rate, which is not the fuel pressure. I think it has something to do with the pulse width of the injection. The FMS will let you know if it has low fuel pressure if it goes below 2 psi. (I know this because my damn fuel gauge died, and I ran out once, I thought the vp44 died but I put fuel in it, bled the injectors, and it fired right up)

I am surprised the boost was so low though? mine was around 18 psi when I put the FMS on with no fueling. Maybe you have a leak?

but call Chip at bluechip and he can tell you more.

good luck!

Scott

Nick,

I'm probably going to go with the con FE from south bend. I need to take a look at their dual disk before I decide, but I can't really do anything for a couple of months anyway. I'm planning on doing the install myself, but I know laserbob in Greeley does them.

I installed the comp at 7000 miles, and hooked up the pump wire at 10,000. Towed with it on 5x5 without any problems. The injectors went in at about 20,000, I was scared to try the comp but did and didn't have any problems then either. My clutch problems started after taking my truck to Big O tire in Loveland to have a screw removed. They pulled my truck around the shop, I could hear him getting into it in the alley. When he was in the shop he kept creeping up 6 inches at a time, second gear, lots of throttle, and lots of riding the clutch. All the while he was gaulking at his loser buddies working in there about how cool my truck was:mad: . The next day it was slipping with the comp on level one.

I better stop now, before I start throwing things. Anyways, right now I'm at 29,000 miles and running stock, it seems to be holding.

Jeff, I remember being in front of you when I smoked the clutch:cool:

Oh you mean the time I lit the tires so hard everything disappeared in smoke? I thought you meant when we were racing. :D I seem to remember a still stock 47re transmission in my truck inhilating your truck after a certain dyno day in July. :D :D
