Well you guys knew it was only a matter of time...
I received my Blue-Chip VP44 replacement pump cover from Piers of PDR on Monday...
(so far, so good). BTW, Piers, thanks for your expedient service.
Well, I couldn't resist... I just had to BOMB the pump cover!
Just had to!
BTW, the "plastic" pump cover appears to be cnc machined from nylon... pretty trick however, nothing's so good it can't be made better.
I redecked the surface that nests against the VP44, filed and sanded all other surfaces, finishing with 400 wet/dry. Several applications with a trick plastic cleaner made that bad boy look like a million!
I wasn't done there!
On to the wiring "harness"!
I decided to replace the provided ring connectors with some trick new ring connectors I found at NAPA... these have integral solder that melts with a heat gun while simultaneously shrinking the protective (thick) heat shrink tubing. After shortening the length of the wires a little, I decided to add single Weatherpack connectors to the other pump wire ends (VP44 solenoid control wire and ground). This also mates to the corresponding Weatherpack connectors of my Edge Comp wiring harness.
PS: Evan, I soldered the Weatherpack terminals to the wires..... would you expect any less?
The results of this BOMB came out pretty trick.
Ok, ok, maybe I'm certifiable but what the heck, it was fun!
