Well, my VP finally decided it was time to really quit. Sadly, no code, but the intermittent Dead Pedal was happening only when it was above 40Deg outside, Yesterday morning it went dead about 5 times on the way to work and the temp was about 10Deg. So I called up Blue Chip, I've had my eye on their special for a while now. In the last few months I've seen this Special X VP44 added, it's the most expensive VP out there (among the popular ones I've seen) but promises 2-3mpg economy improvement. Has anyone here put one of these on their truck? I couldn't resist, with the miles I drive if I only gain 2mpg the extra $300 pays for itself in about a year. Just curious if people are actually seeing the mileage gain, or if I'm the TDR guinea pig.

I just put one in my truck the other day (along with injectors). I dont think I have a 1/4 a tank through it yet, so I have no idea on mileage I was thinking about filling it up today & see. I also put a set of stage 1 injectors in it, so its certainly a BIG difference over what I had before.

Batphreak... . Are you sure its the vp44? If you have no codes..... maybe the APPS. Mine went bad & had no codes, but intermitent dead pedal.

From what I've heard with an APPS going bad and not throwing a code it goes dead right in the cruising range. Mine was going dead in a few situations, 45-55 (holding throttle steady if I hit 55 it would fuel and take off, outside temp had to be 40Deg+ and the truck had to be warm), lately it started giving dead pedal right off idle after truck had been warmed up then sat any length of time less than 10 hours, then Friday morning it was going dead at 70mph only thing that'd bring the fuel back was working the throttle a few times. Most everyone I've talked to has called it the VP, not likely the APPS.

Mine was doing this last summer. One day, it was fine, next day it would do the above. Then it'd go a while and be fine, then act up again.

Then somewhere back a few months ago, it just decided to be good as gold. No troubles with it since.

The above causes me to wonder if the situation will return when summer temps return to the Phoenix metro area?

Now I'm really sure it isn't the APPS. I hooked a voltmeter up to the APPS signal wire and ran the APPS up and down, Voltage followed it smooth as a whistle, no dead or noisy spots anywhere. So, new VP is getting put on morning of the 26th.
