Looking like I am going to be doing the NV4500 Conversion as well as getting the rear diff. looked at. Was wondering if anyone has used the Blumenthal NV4500 conversion kit. If so, was the kit pretty complete? What price? I looked at the Quad4x4 kit but I just cant swing the 3200 for the kit due to a new trans. So, a reman is not a problem.

Since Blumenthal is right in town for me, I thought I would just take it up to them and have them do all of the work.

Well, my truck is back after the conversion. They did a nice clean install. I had to laugh though when I saw what was written on the workorder after the test drive. It read "clutch slips in 5th, too much power" LOL Guess its time to give Peter a call. Funny though, I have had that clutch in for a year in front of the Getrag and the only time it slipped was the first few days after the install since it had to mate with the flywheel. Cab is alot quieter now as well, I guess the old Getrag was making a heck of a racket.

The only drawback now is that my power windows and A/C / Heater controls do not work now. I do not know what they could have done to do this. I dont think they were even around any of the wiring to them. I had a new ign. switch on hand so I swapped it in but it didnt change anything. So, I guess I will be tracing out the wiring this weekend. Gotta love it.

My brother did the NV conversion on his 92. He went with the 13 1/4" conversion kit and he just LOVES the change.

He says he can actually shift gears without "waiting" for the transmission to catch up and now he never has to cringe waiting for the ugly thing to happen.

I think he used the SBC 400 HP clutch... . no more shuddering in reverse on a hill or with a load... smooth as silk.
