Just wanted to make a short rant about what i recieved from Blumenthal Heavy Duty Inc. today. I ordered the shifter rubber spacer (between shifter and trans) last week and was surprised when it arrived today. The part cost 9. 95 and they charged me 13. 00 to shipp a 1 lb. package from Ok. to Ky. ground ups. Not a big deal, but i expected better from them. Live and learn who to buy from. Randy

ups is the problem. . i've been burned by them [ups] many times. . i now request usps or canada post on everything i can now. .

Yup, ups charged me about $26 to ship a 2lb. small box. from IL to CO

So, why is this Blumenthal's fault? Did you specify the shipper? If not, then UPS charges whatever UPS charges - Blumenthal has nothing to do with that.

We had a model for a wind tunnel test that was sent red label UPS freight from CA to TX that never got there. We couldn't get any assurance from UPS that we could have the item delivered the day we needed it (4 days later) so we drove down to the hub (100 miles away) where it was waiting on a truck and brought it back ourselves. The contract specified UPS as the carrier. We only use FedEx if possible.

This was not the fault of ups. We did a check on the ups web site last night, and there rate was about 6 bucks. It was those "handling" charges where they burned me. The next time i will go to the dealer, at least i would expect to be treated that way there. Randy

I had a 55 pound HT3B shipped via UPS 3-day ground from Maryland to Wisconsin for $30.

I'm not defending Blumenthal since I've never done any business with them whatsoever, but I get the impression that they really aren't in the "over the counter" small dollar consumer market, but rather sell to repair facilities, etc.



In the corporate world, things are somewhat different. Our company manufactures large industrial engines, compressors, turbochargers, etc. , and (just to give an example of how different things are) we have a minimum order requirement of $100. That's because of the cost to generate an invoice, pull, pack and ship an order, run a credit and collections department, etc. Small dollar orders create real logjams in companies that aren't set up to handle them as a routine part of their business model.

i have been in buisness for many years,shipping all kinds of stuff by ups and by truck.

heres the real deal on shipping.

What your read on ups's website about shipping cost does not carry over to the shipper,to have ups come to your shop everyday cost you,you pay them to stop in,cost vary,depends on where you are.

then you have tape,boxes,employees,scales,etc,etc. it all adds up.

at my shop we add 70% to every ups charge to help cover all those extra expenses,we keep track of every transaction,and at the end of the year we are always in the hole on shipping.

we refuse to ship usps because the post office is 30 miles round trip away from the shop,and then you have the wait at the counter while those wonderful employees screw around.

i have a girl that does my shipping,it takes her from 9 until 2 to get it done,5 hours at $15 per hour,plus workmans comp. ,vacations etc.

if your in business and you dont charge enough you will be unemployed soon.

You really got to watch on the shipping. I recently ask for the shipping

price on a $5. 95 trailer light lense and it was $10. 95 so you don't always

get a cheaper price by ordering something. :{
