hi, i'm new here. i am the proud new owner of bob simerly's 92 1 ton. some of you may know him... ? ( and wife nancy)? heres the deal: he cant really talk due to a stroke and i dont know for sure whats been done to this thing. how can i tell what spring is in the pump? where do i get a 3200 spring? is there such a thing as a 'fuel pin'? (posed to get 40 hp from it?). how do i identify? (or where do i get one). it looks like the pumps been moved so i guess someone has messed with the timing? (i hate working on stuff when a bunch of other mechanics have ... whats the word? with it). looks like 14cm ex. (i thought bob put aftermarket housing, wasnt 14 stock?). no waste gate (closed, permantly). makes 27 pounds of boost now. all i have done so far is blueprint all the turbo tubes and hoses and elbows. how in the heck do you spin the motor over to adj the valves????? i pulled one cover, tried bumping it over with starter motor, it laughed at me. does not look like i can get a wrench on crank. whats the trick? and lastly, pulled turbo off tonight. how do i get in there to port (polish) the compressor side of the turbo??? its tight!

any info greatly appreciated

thanks in advance, don

Does the truck pull hard all the way to 3200 or so? if the stock spring is still in it, it will strt falling off around 2600-2800 RPM

Yes, it has a fuel pin. It is located in th "top hat" area of the pump under the afc diaphram. If it looks a little radical i is a different pin than stock, depends on who ground it and how far they went.

If the pump mark is higher thna the mark on the injector pump mount housing, the timing probably has been raised. How close is the top of the pump to the head? If it is within an 1/8" or so, almost sure to be bumped.

Stock housing was 18. No waste gates on a factory firstgen.

27 psi boost, you are in the 200-225 HP to the ground range.

Turn the alternator nut backwards to rotate the engine or get a barring tool to turn the flywheel.

Bob's truck was super clean. I really liked it. Take good care of her now! :D

yea, bob always took very good care of his stuff. i adopted him as a dad cuz mine is kinda a jerk. i have already put a lot of work into his old truck and have big plans for it now. thanks for the note D

PAC:no, it falls off around 2500. (will rev to 3 when in driveway tho... ) where do i get 3200 spring???

i will check fuel pin tomorrow in day light.

pulled turbo, it says 14 on it and has a wastegate. wastegate not in use tho (always closed) i polished inside of turbo, inside of elbow, filled grooves in steel tubing with a b epoxy and polished them too, cut extra flanges off ends of steel tubing where it protruded into the rubber deals, and i removed the heater thing and just bolted elbow (oh, i polished that elbow too) to manifold. damn truck made less boost (25 psi) but smoked less and pulled away from my nephew driving my 2000 r/t dakota!

does not feel consistent tho?

changed fuel filter

i wonder if the stock fuel pump can keep up with everything else?

they use stock pump with 3200 spring and big injectors (bob used accel, dont know size or pn)???

thanks for your help

how hard is it to get one of these things to make 500hp? and be drivable (like to still tow 10k trailer???
