TDR member Bob Verhoef has a high quality product. Hes put together a kit which uses an Eaton Fuller shifter(big rig style),a 4 way vacuum switch and a vacuum electric switch. The shifter adds about 2" in height and its surprising how much easier it is to hit the gates, especially with the 6spd. The shifter has the switch for the ebrake and the real kicker is the lockout for the front. This is great for needing 4WHL Low and not having the front axle engaged. All the parts are high quality and his instructions cover all the necessary operations. In fact after reading the instructions I was able to do most of the install using the diagrams. I installed mine yesterday and Im really impressed. thanks Bob! He can be reached at -- email address removed --. BTW,Im one of his satisfied customers and I do not work for him Oo.

It is.

I've got one and am extremely happy with it. Bob's kit is well thought out, and a pleasure to install.

Bob Verhoef's 4 Low kit

I have a shifter from Bob and it is one quality kit.

Exhaust brake, control of the 4 low kit on the shifter.

Gotta love it!

Here are some pictures of the install of the vacuum switches#ad

I just received my Bob V kit yesterday and I cant hardly wait to install it, instros look to be in great detail and all the components appear to be of high quality. I am happy:) :) :) Kevin

Eaton shifter

For a twist to Bob's shifter...

I recently got the US Gear underdrive on my truck. They installed a big ugly switch on the side of the shift column. (Similiar to on a two speed rear on a big rig). I e-mailed Bob and asked if he could set the Eaton shifter up to switch two electrical switches instead of one electrical and one vacuum. Not a problem. Received kit, installed same, no problems. :D

I now have the under drive switch (the red one on the side) and the exhaust brake switch on the gear shift. EXTREMELY convenient! I'll get around someday to installing his earlier version vacuum switch for the 4wd lo lockout on the plastic by the 4wd shifter.

For anyone that has an under drive or over drive and an exhaust brake, I highly recommend Bob's shifter kit.

No affiliation with Bob or his product, just a happy customer!

I have the 2 wheel low kit...

It's just what I was looking for! I do wish I would have ordered the red knob though.

The best feature is being able to tow on the interstate in 4 x 4 without the front and rear fighting each other. If I get to a slippery area, I just engage the front axle without slowing down. Cool!

what all included in the kit and how much will it set me back. It looks like a pretty clean install what all is involved in installing it.

I've had mine for awhile, I think it was about 130. 00 shipped. To install you will need to remove boot on shifter. run some vacuum lines attach the vacuum and electrical switchs not too difficult, will take about 2 hrs or so.

i am getting ready to order mine tonight i have had a few questions.

1. does the T case have to be in low rand for 2wd low to work?

2. Does the 4wd light com on if you are in 4wd locked out. so really 2wd?

3. Has anyone had any trouble hooking it up to the banks brake?

4. Does Bob have a Pay pal or do i have to send him a check?

5. CFAR you said yours was $130, which kit did you get because the supershifter is now 227. 50 including shipping?

Thanks for the help hopefully i will order it tonight.

I can answer #1 and #2

The only way to engage the low range gear set in the transfer case is to move the 4x4 lever to the 4wheel low range position, this engages the low range gears and the front drive line, it also operates a valve that switches the vacuum to the "center axle disconnect" to engage the front axle. The switch for the 4x4 light is in the axle disconnect and closes when the axle shift collar is fully engaged. the 4wheel low kits change the vacuum signal to the CAD so the front axle is disengaged.

This means the answer is

#1Yes

#2No

thanks for the first 2

OK now all I need to know is about the Brake will everything hook up. Once i know this I will hopefully get the check out today.

Thanks,

Trey

Maybe it was $230 instead of $130, sorry about that, its been awhile with too many mods in between.

I have the Jacobs, I didn't have any problem, it should be pretty simple. You will have to understand how your banks brake works, the Super Shifter uses an vacuum operated electrical solenoid for the brake. You will need to hook up keyed 12v to on side of the solenoid and run the other to your brake.

The Jacobs stock uses a wire from pin 20 off of the ecm, which provides 12v when the go pedal is at 0, it takes about 2 seconds to engage after letting up on the pedal(so you can shift) when you depress the pedal it will take a second to disengage. the one thing I don't like about the stock setup is when the brake is on for a long time comming down a hill under a lot of compression it will take forever to turn off. with the switch on the shifter I can turn off sooner, and turn on sooner, just works better. I don't even turn on the stock switch. If you have mods and you give it fuel with the brake on it will smoke like you won't believe.

thanks for the info. Right now the switch for my exhaust brake comes out of a relay with 3 wires from it. it has a power ground and one more that probably actuates the brake. the power is probably for the lighted switch. on your exhaust brake do you have a relay the disable the brake for when the cruise control is one is on. That is what mine has one. should i bypass it or continue using it.

Thanks for the help
