Does anybody know where the body code plate is? I've looked where the service manual says but there's no diagram there and I can't find it. It doesn't appear to be in the radiator area, so if it's 'on the floor pan under the passenger seat' does that mean it's under the carpet? I can't find it anywhere else, including UNDER the truck under the passenger seat.

I'd use the search feature but it's disabled! Thanks for any assist.

I think you'll find that the plate on the glove box door is the Equipment Identification Plate.

Let us know if you find the Body Code Plate.

Found mine

The plate on my 1997 dodge is under the hood, right side of the radiator ( from the drivers seat ). The tag is painted the same color as the radiator and engine compartment and it blends in real well.

There is a post that it is mounted on, with the tag near the horizontal cross beam we all lean on when working on the engine.

Hope this helps. I don't know your year so it might not apply.

I'll check again

But I don't think I missed it. Mine is a 2001 and it is definitely not on the horizontal cross member you're speaking of. According to the service manual, "The body code plate is located on the floor pan under the passenger seat or attached to the front face of the radiator closure panel". ? Huh? I'm an engineer, I still don't get it!

UNDER PASSENGER's SEAT I found it when doing a system. If not on the rad support then under the pass seat (Under carpet) tagged onto crossmember.

Body code plate location

Hey Zman,

It is riveted to the floor pan under the carpet/floor mat on passenger side of cab. Took flooring out of my 2001 and found it there. You'll see it.

Thanks

Thanks to all for the info, I was hoping that it WASN'T under the carpet but that was my fear. I got the info I needed off of Fritz's web site.
