body color toolbox

Anyone have any pics of trucks with toolboxes painted body color? I was thinking of doing this on an '05 mineral gray 2500 LWB and wanted to see some pics or atleast hear opinions.

Since it doesn't seem that anyone has any pics of a truck with a body color toolbox. Do you guys think it would look good? I am getting a 26-30" inch box regardless of whether it ends up getting paint or just diamond plate.

I would get it LineX'd in your body color. That way you don't have to worry about the paint being chipped.

Then there would be the question, where is there a Line-X dealer that sprays anything but black. They all claim to have matching truck colors but when you commit to paying the outragous cost to have your truck done, you have the choice of Black. If that isn't the color you like, then you can have it in Black... As for myself, I wouldnt have Line-x spray anything. They dont stand behind their warranty. You call their corp office when there is a problem and they hide behind the fine printg that states each dealer is their own company. Thus, your warranty is only as good as the guy that sold it to you. I had my last Cummins done and the guy did a lousy job. It pealed, it discolored, it flaked off, and I didnt even haul anything in the truck! Just my advice, stay away from Line-X. :-{} :-{}

Good idea on the line-x, but I am not convinced that they haven't fixed the color fading problem yet. I have a friend who sprays beds with a competitor to line-x. He isn't a big fan of the color match either. He won't come out and say it, but from our conversations, I think he expects the color to fade over time.



I think if I put enough coats of clear on the box, it should last for quite some time. I just wonder if it will look good painted body color??

Here goes my . 015... When I had my Commercial Snow Removal Business (6 trucks),ALL the trucks had their tool boxes and snow plow pumps painted truck color. It just seemed like this way, these items seemed to "belong" on the truck, as opposed to added on. If these things did have to come off, it looked like something was missing. I always got compliments on my equipment. Chrome dont get ya home. Paint it!!!

That is why I wanted to paint the box. I thought it would look like an extension of the cab. Especially with a Long bed. That is also the reason for wanting a 30" box----make the bed look a little shorter but still have all the advantages of a long bed. Thanks for your input.
