2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission body stuff

I was thinking of removing the black plastic placard along the bottom of my tailgate. Is there a solid tailgate under there or am I going to discover a mess? I imagine it's just stuck on there and the body should be intact and painted underneath, is that correct? While I'm at it, how about the side molding as well, same scenario?

Under the tailgate should be perfectly smooth since the protector was an option. I don't have one and mine has no holes. I removed my side molding with a heat gun and "goof off" . No holes underneath, just a nice paint job. Mine are back on now, though, because of some parking lot dents I received. I may take them off again now that I don't drive it everday. Have fun!

p. s. Be careful if you use a heat gun, it will damage the moldings. adhesive remover like "goof off" works real well, I have used 3M also. just wash real good afterwords and throw a good coat of wax on!

Same goes for the SLT emblems on the cab and the RAM2500 emblems on the doors, no holes underneath. Mine are gone too.

I have removed all the emblems, tailgate molding, the dodge and 4x4 letters on tail gate and all the side mouldings on about 25 trucks.



One thing you may want to do is run a buffer over all the areas because i have found the double sided tape to etch the paint a little bit. The darker the color the more you need to worry about a buffer. I removed all the stuff on a white extra cab yesterday and it was really hard to see where all the stuff was. Need any help e mail me and i can give you step by step instructions.
