2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Body Trim Decode / Colors..need help

Hi... been awhile since I've been on here. I'm needing to find out the actual color of the interior of my 98. 5 truck. The build placard under the hood shows a 5XC3 Trim Code but I cant seem to find anything on the web that actually tells me what that means. The interior color of the dash and trim plastic looks to be a medium gray but apparently Dodge used a bunch of shades of gray in these trucks. I bought a replacement ash tray off eBay and it said it was gray but when I got it... it was really dark charcoal, almost black... I also need to replace the cupholder in the bottom center of the dash. . typical cheap plastic. . hit a bump, it broke and spilled my coke all over the place ! Anyone know the meaning of the above code or what the correct color really is. Also need paint to paint my 3 gauge pod on the A pillar... Thanks

When a customer (bodyman) painted my A pillar gauge mount he took the fuse box lid and sent it to the paint shop so they coudl match it, which they did.

The code for the interior could be in in the VIN.

That sounds like a good idea... fuse cover ! Thanks... as to the VIN containing interior color codes etc... not there. . VIN only contains builder,body type, 2 or 4wd, weight rating, engine model/size, assembly plant location and serial number... only a Dodge dealer can seem to break it down further and get the actual build sheet... btw M. Mule... been a long time since I talked with you on here !

IIRC it is c3 for the interior color. You can get the interior paint from the dealer and I beleive Geno's Garage for under $10 in an aerosol can

sounds like your interior is the light gray color... ... the ashtray you bought is called Agate- its really dark gray color, if you dont want I would buy it from you.



FYI- Geno's dark gray agate color is not even close to factory color.

Its called Light Agate and is tough to match.



I do not think its available at the dealers anymore either.



The last pillar I painted for a friend of mine we took it to a local shop that mixes automotive paint and they custom mixed us a can to match,basecoat/clearcoat in one... ... Andy

If you would ever see the inside of my truck this is exactly the reason I have both of my a-pillars painted Flame Red. I could never find a good matching interior paint so I did them to match the outside of the truck and its been that way ever since.

Hi Budnate... If I can find another ash tray in the correct color. . I think you said I need light agate. . I'll sell ya the dark agate one I bought for what I paid for it... 13 bucks and shipping... has a little piece of the inside edge broke but if you wern't looking for it... youd never notice it. . edge of the black plastic that holds the ashes
