Homemade Garage Carriage Doors...anyone made some?

I got the parts into the blast cabinet a few days back. I get really bored blasting so some of the parts will need a once over with the wire wheel before

I can spray on some primer.

Yesterday, I started working on the base and colum.

I bought some chemical called Rust Mort (Phosphoric acid) to help disolve the rust. Worked really well on the test spot. See pic#2.

Today I gave the bottom of the base a good scrubbing with the wire cup and started soaking it with the Rust Mort.

Parts are all srubbed and clean. Time for some primer!

This is after a Rust Mort treatment.

All the rust is gone. Woohoo!

I'll paint the entire base with POR15 before I apply the final paint coat.

Paint is done, except for the base of the column.

The color is Verde Green from Rustoleum.

Almost ready to use.

Here she is in all of her glory.

Still need to mount the chuck and fininsh a few small details.

Other than that, she's ready for duty!

NICE JOB!!

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but another way to remove rust involved using low voltage, a damp rag, and baking soda.

Thanks for the tip. I'm already shopping the net for more older machines to play with.
