Aloha All, next week I will be installing so new items and was looking for any hints or personnal experiences that might not be found in the manual that would help me out. All these will be my first time projects. It's always the little things that slow me down. Anyways, here's what I got. DTT TC, VB, and upgrade kit (bands and seals I think?) and DD2's and an EZ. I can figure these out I'm sure, but most of you have much more experience with this stuff and perhaps could offer some advise. Thanks.

LoneRam,

Just gotta find out what you do with a BOMBed Ram on Honolulu. Last time I was there I remember that you could drive around the island in a day, there weren't too many long freeways to get it up to speed and keep it there, and diesel must be pricey. Are you a permanent resident, or just visiting with the military.

A little of both

Rick, I've been trying to get off this rock for awhile now. Diesel is 1. 89 a gal here:mad: I've been planning on getting this truck for over a year and love it too much to allow it any undue embarrassment on the roads, no matter how short they are. Plus, I am working towards some better MPG once I can lighten the gogo foot:D I turn wrenches for a living and am not scared about any of the work, just looking for inside tips. Anytime your back in Honolulu, my info is in the travel page. Thanks

Mele kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) and Haoule makahiki hou (Happy New Year). Was stationed in Hono for three years :).

For the injectors, get a 19mm crowfoot (for the fuel line nuts) and a 27mm deepwell socket to pull the injectors. When I did mine I tried the bolt, pliers thing and skinned some knuckles only to find out that when I got to #6 it wouldn't budge. Then looked at my sockets and determined that a valve cover bolt thru the center of the socket made a great puller:)

Hope this helps Brah:) Let me know if you have any other questions.

Here is part of a post I did before.

As for the installation, it was pretty straight forward except for injector removal. Mine were IN there. I did the "bolt pry on the rocker thing" and found that the valve springs would compress and I managed to get three of them out like that with only one bloody knuckle. Then I figured when I couldn't get the other ones out that I would put a washer under the head of the bolt and get a 27mm box end under the washer and get more leverage. This worked for the rest except for #4. No matter what I did it didn't want to come out. So I thought about the picture of the injector puller in the manual and decided to use a Craftsman 27mm deepwell socket and drop the short intake horn bolt into and wind it down. Well, it came out easier than you could believe If only I could of thought of this about 5 injectors ago I would have more electrical tape (my bandage). Just thought I would let everyone know how it went.

You ask what do you do in Hono with a CTD??? SMOKE some rice burners, that's what you do. I would have loved to have my truck when we went there this past summer. Little cars with big mufflers... impressive?... not to me... I'd rather have a straight pipe that puts out a big black puff as it flys by. I would have loved to see the looks on their faces when a 4x4 QC diesel made them look like they were on a peddal bike. :)

LoneRam, the injectors are a piece of cake, just follow the DD instructions. The EZ is EZ too. Never been in an auto transmission, but my turn is coming. Post what you find if you would when you get the transmission done.
