Have seen other threads ask similar question but can not relocate.

Have spent last 3 months reading threads (paying my dues) and living with stock CTD; 2002, Auto, 4x4, 2500, Ext Cab, 3. 54, LWB. Am now ready to start bombing. Please advise if I am thinking right about the order I have in mind to add goodies.

1-Gauges - Isspro, Piller, triple

2-transmission Kit

3-Edge Comp

4-Injectors (BP Performance or one of DTT's)

5-Exaust System

I don't tow but carry 55 gal Drums/ 50 lb cases; average load = 1600 lb 3-4 times a week. Getting 18-20 mpg and don't want to give this up. Want to add 1 mod at a time, as a kind of test project to measure results of each (also to spread out cost).

Questions, after yea or ney on the order of my list-

Best injector to match Edge Comp?

Does exaust System help? some say it adds nothing.

Is Fuel Flow gauge necessary? Am starting with Pyro, Turbo Boost, transmission Temp.

Have I left anything esential off my list?

Thanks in advance for the comments of those who have "been there and done that"!

My thoughts...

Exhaust will help with EGTs, but won't be that noticable performance wise. Depending on mods, you may also want a higher flowing air filter. I would add a fuel pressure gauge. I am only running a EZ and the muffler is gone.

Depending on how long between mods, I would change the order to:

1 - Comp/UFM (level 1 only)

2 - Gauges (levels 1 & 2 EGT permitting)

3 - Trans upgrades

4 - Exhaust/airbox

5 - Injectors/turbo

Now, anywhere in the list, but before #5, you can do a fuel line kit and a pusher pump. You can actually do #4 at any time as well, but the sooner you do it, the lower the EGT's will be and the more power you can use.

Even though I say you should do the trans at #3, you should really do it at the same time as #5, so the trans guy can setup your truck for the max power.

Do you have less than 100K on your truck? If you do, don't "BOMB" it! Belive me, I've spent ,(and you will spend) out of pocket, counting 'mods' and unreimbused dealer repairs, over $10k, not counting unreimbursed towing, and am now about to spend another $2k-$4k to get my stinking truck back to running normal because of my mods. And also, since you will continue to be 'your own warranty station', even the brand new factory parts you buy, but, fail, 'out of the box,' you'll not be able to return, ... just eat! Get used to it!

You would be better off to buy the new 2003 Diesel Ram. My opinion of course.
