Perhaps you read the fictional account on the "bombing" thread. Before taking 16 steps, can you tell if you are in danger of addiction to bombing? Bombaholics Anonymous (BA) has published a guide, which I have reproduced here, so no one will go too far #ad


You are at great risk or are already addicted if:
1. you have a perfectly good bombing product on the Ram and are saving for another;
2. you have multiple bombing products on the Ram and are dreaming about more;
3. your bombed Ram feels a bit tired now and NEEDS more bombing;
4. you only watch the egt for shut down because you "don't have time" when drivng "to the engine's potential";
5. you blame Dodge because the drivetrain that held stock power is now inadequate;
6. you plan to spend more on the drivetrain than you spent on bombing the engine, so you can use the power;
7. after bombing the drivetrain, you plan on more engine goodies because it is now "safe".

Fortunately, no one on this forum is at risk of being a bombaholic, right? #ad

Hi, I'm Arlan. I'm a Bombaholic. I have a question for Joe. I have a PowerMax1 and 275 RV injectors now. My transmission went bye bye in Alaska last month and I now have a BD built transmission, Low Stall Convertor, Valve Body, Torque Lock Pressure Lock etc. Do you think the transmission will hold if I upgrade to Marks PowerMax3? Also how is it EGT wise for towing? I promise I'll stop Bombing soon. Just one more please.

Right. We're not really bombaholics because we can't see any reason to have more than say 6-8 bomb products. . . in addition to the ones already on our Rams. #ad


Check with BD on their recommendations for max hp--Piers is familiar with the "optimiztion" products you already have. Mainly, be sure the BD stuff is installed correctly to ensure enough line pressure. EGT is problematic, in spite of some forum members belief that the 24 valve head breathes better. Even adding 70 hp can get you into trouble if used under full load for a period of time like a couple minutes solid. I think whn it is all sorted out, you will have to give up a bit of the fast spooling benefit of the 12 cm2 exhaust housing and go bigger to get enough airflow. Once that big restriction is relieved, a low restriction muffler may make a small gain. I suggest you call TST and get their recommendation. They are doing a lot of research on egt with the 24 valve engine. They also plan to release a PowerMax soon that will have a user-selected max egt and the box will reduce the amount of added fueling to keep within that limit.

Joe, you hit the nail on the head! Only, instead of 6-8 BOMB products, I currently have parts for 6-8 BOMB projects at home... and some are at the welder, the powder coater... Hell, I even have parts to BOMB the BOMB! You know, when only the best will do... better hardware, an upgrade to braided stainless steel AN hoses #ad

Hey Arlan, what were the modifications made to your original transmission? If I remember correctly you had a BD TC (regular stall?) and valve body. If so, were these components reused in the new ('built) BD transmission? Also, what was the cause of the transmission failure of your original transmission (if known)? Were you running synthetic ATF?

And last but not least, I hope your new BD transmission works well for you! #ad

I had a 'slip' today... my BOMBriety is ruined again. I actually slipped three times in one day. The clutch slipped too.

I guess its back to rehab but theres no way I can go to a Betty Fijord clinic.

Perhaps I have not hit my bottom?

Don't worry, wee Scott!
Slips don't count if:
1. there are no witnesses
2. you "persuade" witnesses not to tell
3. you can find a clutch that is "decent" and justify it as a "heavy duty" or "more refined" part, not a bombing product
4. you don't need more than one, or two bombing products "per week" #ad

5. the same person does not CATCH you with more than one or two per week hehehe.

1. you sleep with and dream about bomb products
2. your favorite foldouts are things like injection pump diagrams, "exploded" views of turbochargers [eh, Adam, #ad

3. you think about injectors and torque curves while doing other things, and your performance at them improves
4. the most insulting thing ever said to you was about the power of your Ram
5. you spend hours waxing and polishing your Ram's underhood parts
6. the normal view of your Ram is with the hood up and your head under it.
7 your s. o. ever complained that you spend more time on your Ram's differential than on ...

I, for one, am proud to say that this afliction has not shown its ugly head in my garage. All of those catalogs, pamphlets and parts in the attic belong to a friend and I am just holding them for him. #ad
