Just installed a Roadrunner Low Stall Torque Convertor and a BD valve body.

My transmission master tech did all the work, he was very impressed with both items. I'm extremely happy with the result :D See my signature, truck already ran good but wasn't great. Now it's scary fast, I can go faster uphill than then suspension will allow. I have to learn this bad boy all over again. Not a thing wrong with that.

By the way I got the Roadrunner T/C off of ebay :-laf Total cost 414. 14 deliveried lower my idle 250 rpms truck runs down highway at 1500 rpms doing 50MPH. So it's got great lock up and cheaper than so called big name brands. I'm willing to try this out until I can afford a DTT upgrade. I'll be dyno bound next week or so, I'll post improvements then, right now I think I'm over 300 HP and 650 Torque. Love these 12 valves, I sell 3rd Gen for a living and even with an Edge chip installed setting on 3, I can keep up now soon I'll pass them.

I'm glad you are happy. I think the reason the big names cost more (convertor) is that each uses what they believe to be a better converter.

All are tough. I have most experience with the DTT as my friend inarush76 is a master tech/DTT installer here in our area. He and I often tag team to do trans and power upgrades at the same time. One feature of their torq. converter is lowering stall speed, but torq. multiplication and more hd etc.

His transmission seems to add 50+ hp to the seat of the pants. The engine no longer revs and waits on the trans to catch up, it just goes!

Then they move on to a good valve body more mods, extra clutches, billet shafts etc.

So its not a simple parts change, usually an overhaul with the new and improved "guts. "

Good luck

Andy

Andy, sorry if it sounded like I was blasting the big boys. Without their experience none of us would use stock autos with higher power diesels, just manuals and better clutches. I was just letting others know of my experiences.

I don't expect the Roadrunner T/C to survive 400HP or higher, and I'm not bad mouthing Roadrunner I just know I'm going to need a better transmission in the long haul. I'm just happy to get better then expected results.

Glad to hear you are happy with the work done E. A bombed transmission can make all the difference i nthe world.

James is a heck of a guy too aint he? His work is second to none. I'm looking forward to seeing him next weekend at the rally. :)

Wow, Sounds like a awesome deal. Keep us informed as to how it holds up.

Who is making that convertor? Did you do just the convertor and valvebody?

Any servos or extra clutches?? Sounds like a good alternative until i can afford a DTT. My stock convertor sucks bad
