Added Lubetech fuel treatment to the carpet by means of a leaking bottle cap. Probably close to 100:1 ratio by area, smells REALLY GOOD in the cab now . First round of carpet cleaning last night had next to zero effect, smell nearly knocked me over again this morning. Any ideas on how to neutralize this aroma?

I work for a fuel oil company. We use an odor absorbing powder that will take away the smell if we have a spill or a leaking tank inside a basement. Maybe a local oil company will sell you a container. Stuff works good to take away the odor.

If it leaves a stain, use aerosol brake cleaner and a terrycloth towel. It's the same chemical as dry-cleaning solution!

Hey, how about that! I bombed my carpet with fuel treatment too this summer (bottle was on it's side and cap leaked) and it was right after I had shampooed it too! I just got some hot soapy water and scrubbed it a bunch and then went over it more with clean water to get the soap out and let it air dry. It was just a small spot and it came out pretty good. I also sprayed it with Lysol.

Good info

It diid leave a stain but luckily the carpet's dark grey so it's not too bad. The brake cleaner will just evaporate off I assume, not leaving any residue or smell of it's own? Excellent tip BCFAST and thanks everybody! :)
