so are we gonna see a parts and prices list  . . how about the step-by-step:D with pictures. :D I might have to do this to an old fridge at home. Now I just have to find a supplier for a keg of GuinessOo. Oo. :-laf

I'm still stuck on the new smiles..... :-{}

Only one tap handle? Too boring! Although, it's probably easier to decide which beer to grab a pint of . . .

If you're going to dispense Guiness, you'll need a special "creamer" faucet and a tank of mixed gas (70% CO2, 30% N2 or so). The keg uses a non-US fitting, too, but your distributor should loan you one.

For those that are thinking about building a keg fridge, here's a place I've done business with in the past: http://www.kegworks.com/. They have complete kits for under $250 that, combined with a fridge, makes a nice beer fridge like Mr. Brewski has.

If you want more than one tap handle, you're going to need either a walk-in cooler, or use smaller kegs -- like the 5-gal pepsi syrup cylinders homebrewers use for their beer. Most microbreweries will fill your clean keg with their beer (usually $30-40). See Dog House Keg Fridge for more details.

Yeah, the furthest left tap is my Guiness faucet -- right now it's hooked to a local Porter that's yummy served this way. This past summer I ran a local IPA through a normal faucet and through the Guiness faucet, and you couldn't tell they were the same beer. The down side is the faucet is about $100, but it's worth it.

If you're handy, you can put together a beer fridge kit for about half of the commercial ones. Hit the local welding shop and see what they charge to borrow a 20# CO2 tank (or beer gas/mixed gas). Mine let me have a 50# tank and two 20# tanks in return for doing their summer BBQ a few years ago. Hit the local beer distributor and see if they have any gear you can buy (or carry off). A lot of times they have stuff they can't use or have removed to put their gear in (change brands) -- strike up a deal and see if they need any help with their Dodge trucks . . . At the least you should be able to talk them out of a few dozen feet of bev line and connectors, maybe a used faucet and handle.

my beer gut is bummed

Man I thought I was living big with my own "canned beer" fridge

You guys really got me bummed :(

Oh well..... Honey look what I just found on the TDR

My wish list just got longer ;)

Jeez pnwradar... .

Just goes to show ya... When you think your the coolest, someones always out there to beat you with more tap handles...

Are you a homebrewer?

Who here are homebrewers???

I got started homebrewing about 5 years ago, and probably brew about 30-50 gallons a year. Got 20 gallons in various stages right now.

Holy cow... Oo.

Let's see, can someone find an RV fridge that'll fit a quarter keg and bolt in kit to place it behind my tool box and fuel cell??

Just kidding. Cool pics though.

I used to be a homebrewer, still have all the gear and stuff, just stopped brewing. There's a half-dozen great breweries within 15 minutes, so I've gotten lazy. "Lemme get a keg of porter, one of IPA, and what's your seasonal?" Lots easier than brewing all afternoon, cleaning all evening, and still waiting a month to drink it.

I helped build a walk-in cooler for a friend out in Montana. 12 feet by 10 feet, with a dozen tap handles on the outside wall. He got tired of pumping chilled glycol (RV antifreeze) through his 20-gallon fermenter, so now he wheels them in to lager and keg. This summer he wants me to run a chilled duct upstairs to the game room, for a few tap lines when they're too lazy to walk downstairs for another beer.

pnwradar, what's that tap on the right :D with the question mark? Leftover kegs from last month's cookout/block party? :D The keg that got mistaken for an urinal ? :-laf

:--)

pnwradar

Are you buying quarter kegs? Or Corny kegs?

I know I've been getting tired of 5 gallon batches. . Thinking about making the switch to 10 gallon batches. But I've got to buy/make a new mashing and lautering setup.
