Do you like the results you got from adding the injectors to the banks kit? I have the Big Hoss banks module on mine and want to upgrade injectors. Did you notice a major difference?

Thanks,

Derek

Dirty Dodge I don't have the injectors in yet I'am going up to B. C. end of dec. and get my trany done by Bill Kondoly at dtt they are going to install them while Bill's doing the trany

I had the same set up but as you can see i changed it. If you want you Cruise control to work then i would not add the Injectors. I am on the road a lot and use Cruise but it seemed like it kept reving up and dying down up a hill and on the strait. With injectors you really need a adjustable box. If you don't use cruise then you should be fine and it will be fast.

injectors/cruise controll

Hi TPRUitt you did'nt say do you have an auto or manual. wondering why bigger injectors would affect the cruise. Put bigger ones in my big rig 460 cmmings / 13 speed did'nt have any affect. tanker yanker

i have a six speed. I would have to say that the cruise could not tell how much peddle pressure to add because the truck would surge up and then quickly let off. It was real annoying to me. When the cruise add fuel it would add way to much. thats why i said you need a adjustable one. Maybe its my truck but when i switched boxes it took care of my problems.

OK, Please help. I have a 02 4X4 quad cab auto swb 3. 54s. A few minor upgrades. Will the DDII's cause my trucks cruise control to malfunction? Is there any thing that can be done to correct this?

Any information here would be greatly appreciated.

Dirty,

Need to know what other engine mods have been done.

My truck, w/ Drag Comp and the 3's will surge when the cruise is on if I have the comp set above 2x3. If on 3x1 or up, I get a surge of about 10 PSI boost any time it tries to pick speed back up. No biggie, just leave the box down when in cruise mode... she runs good at 87 MPH w/ the box on 2x2 anyway. If anyone wants to play, I just bump the box up and get ready to roll. Oh, it did the surging thing with the stock turbo too, so I know it's not just the KSB1-B.

BTW, my cruise no longer works over 87 MPH... don't know if it was always that way, as I had the Comp on before I took any long trips in it... keeps me from getting too extreme on trips home. :)

Derek,

I haven't ever noticed any problems at all while using my cruise. I have only used cruise with the comp of or on low settings though. Maybe with the box on 5 it would surge, but why would anyone need the box turned up while "cruising" at a steady speed? If your truck acts like mine, you won't have any problems.

Later,

Chris

Cruise will work fine but like Josh said it would surge thats why i got the adjustable box. Nothing is wrong with the Cruise but it just can tell how much fuel is actually getting dumped into the engine and that why you get the sudden burst of fuel to get you up to speed. The Big Hoss and the dd2 make for one fast truck the only downside that i saw was the cruise control surge.

Good choice!!

... . and you won't be disappointed either when you go to Bill K's place in BC. Are you getting the full package VB & TCC? Whilst you're in that part of the world, you might want to stop by Piers' place too..... Please say "Hi" to them both from JMc in Europe!

The reason the cruise control surges is, in control system terminology, it has too much gain. It is calibrated for stock injectors and the stock ECM, so when it senses that speed has dropped, it sends a command to the VP44 to increase fueling by "X"%. With the bigger injectors and box, that signal is intercepted by the box and changed to, maybe, "X+20%" (just to pick a number out of the air). Now, the larger injectors may actually deliver "X+40%" in response to that signal, so speed increases much more than it would with a stock truck. When the cruise control senses this speed overrun, it chops fuel and the cycle repeats itself.

I've seen some posts about a way to recalibrate the cruise control by turning it on and off or resetting speed a number of times, but I can't recall the specifics right now. Maybe someone with the shop manuals handy can dig it out.

I think that is the cutoff point set in the ECM. My truck is stock and will not hold over that speed. Also, good friend of mine is the manager at a local dealer and he said DC programed to prevent engine problems. He thinks it is to limit the rpms, especially those with 4. 10 gears. Sounded good to me.

Back to the cruise control issue. I have a Banks Big Hoss module, much like many other remapping boxes. Mine is set for a claimed 80 hp gain and 200 torque gain. They called it level 2. I have one of those boost elbows to increase boost some. Have a K&N. Other than that the truck is stock (at least under the hood). Do you believe my cruise control will surge with DDII's? I am still aways from doing this mod, I want to put a different TC and valve body in transmission before I get to carried away. Some have mentioned a way of recalibrating the cruise control, does any one have any details on this or am I mistaken about it. Thanks for all the input, and any more in advance.

Heard lots about cruise control surging with DD2's but have expirienced none of that! Might call it a little more responsive but no surges at all. Works fine with EZ in low or medium setting; I don't use high (most responsive) setting due to high smoke from DD2/DTT combination.
