Just bought a 2004 Calif. model and found TDR, Want to bomb..... It is not the 2004. 5, boy did I blow it. Will be towing a 9000 lb. travel trailer. will put on the X- Monitor , Did the AFe, What is the next next steep ? Being new to Diesels which bomb would be the best to just give me more power for towing ?

Ah the joys of BOMBing

CFollet, yeah it's a bummer but you can still make your truck put a smile on your face.

I would say after your gauges (X-Monitor) I would do something about the stock exhaust. There are quite a few systems out there and if you do some searches you can see plenty of discussion. There's DPPI (Diesel Performance Products Inc) DPP (Diesel Power Products) Rip Rook's system (Source Automotive Biz) MBRP, to name a few.

I am not sure but I think the California models have EGR (exhaust gas recirculation). Someone correct me if I'm wrong but hopefully there's a way that can be defeated (to keep soot out of your intake system).

One box I like a lot is the Edge EZ, there's also the Volumizer, Banks 6-gun, etc. If you can find your way to an event and get acquainted with some guys here they'll let you try out a box and see how you like it before making a decision. Also watch the classifieds, you can sometimes score one there (and on eBay too).

Have fun and welcome to TDR!~

ps BOMB acronym came from "Better Off Modified Baby" :D

You just might want to look at the new TST box. The first of the timing/pulse width boxes. It works very good with towing as it has 20 different levels to work with. Egt's with this box are very manageable but you will need to upgrade your trans (auto or clutch) if ou want to use more than 1/2 the power thats available. :D

Hey Bill I see you have two 4x2 trucks, Evan Beck has a '01 quadcab shortbed 4x2 and then got a '03 longbed regular cab 4x2, a Graphite Sport. Looks way cool and you're not going to run across one of those every day.

CFollet one thing I'd advise too is but some miles on your truck before BOMBing just to make sure you're not going to have any early warranty issues, and it's better for your drivetrain. I waited 'til 10,000 miles but I know a lot of guys go right after it. I'm planning on keeping mine awhile so I try to give it some TLC.

ahh this is the place wherethe mighty HVAC would come in and take someone to the bombing school I miss seeing him on these posts:(

tst 150hp box, injectors dd2's, dd pusher pump, one of kurt yardleys turbos, clutch or ATS valve body and torque converter, muffler city 5" exhaust, diprocol guages that match factory gauges, you will be looking at close to 500hp and over 1000ftlbs. 1/4 mile times in 13's
