Bombing a 4BT

Hi all,

After some discussion with the local diesel house and a couple of members of the list, I think I have a good idea of what I need to replace on my 'cooked' Cummins. Now I need to know what to look for in the way of bombs to get a little more power out of it since I'm going to be replacing the turbo and having the pump rebuilt.



I'm thinking of picking up a used HX-35 to replace the stock turbo but want to know how big of an injector to go with? Anyone have any thoughts?



My target is to get 160HP out of it if possible or get as close to that as I can without sacrificing reliability.

What injectors are you going to bomb with?

If i can pull off another good deal with PDR, i'll install a set of PODs in my 93 4bta. I'm running them on my 93 6bta and so far i'm happy with them. My brother has stock injectors and his pump tweaking has had little performance effect, his injectors are limiting the amount of fuel delivered by the pump and cannot get the engine to smoke...

What's your CPL for the 120 HP engine? Is it a rotary pump or is it an inline?



I'm looking at PODs as well and debating on the turbo. I'm also trying to see what Piers will charge to do a cam for me.

My little 4 banger is a rusty ol cpl 0986 out of a p3 style van maybe a frito-lay truck . I'm not sure of the turbo. I can barely read the #s on the exhaust side and the holset label reads H1C. . It could be a 21 cm, can't tell... ... it has a small air to air intercooler. . not sure about the injectors. . they will be changed out shortly... . the motor is going into the scout for a trial fit tomarrow and the engine mounts will be fabbed soon... .
