People Please This Forum Is Here For A Reason.

Stats: 1997 BMW R-1100R, sport fairing.

Mods: CAT gone, stock muffler. O2 sensor disconnected and Techlusion fueling box.

Bike runs MUCH (MUCH) better & smoother since I killed the O2 circuit, they run too lean from the factory to be EPA compliant.

Any other suggestions or tips to make it run better?

I tried a couple of BMW forums but no luck. Got a lot of replies scolding me for gutting the CAT. (Green crowd)

North America is the ONLY market that BMW runs closed-loop (O2 sensor).

TIA

I assume this is a motorcycle? Wow, I did not know they had O2 sensors on a motorcycle! And a CAT?!? I looked at a Harley recently and you can get it with either a carburator or EFI. Neither had a cat and only the efi has an O2 sensor.

Yep it's a techno-marvel. ABS on both ends that works amazingly well, tele-lever front end. Front brake dive is history, you can use the front brake without loading the front up on rough roads too. Thermostatically controlled dual oil coolers.

The CAT is not required but I think BMW is "buying" EPA credits or it may be required on the "left coast".

Can't help you much on the specifics of your R-bike. Yes, my 2003 BMW K1200GT sport tourer has a cat along with the anti-lock servo-assisted brakes, heated grips and seat, cruise control, etc. The anti-lock brakes are nice as what we once thought of as the front brake lever now acts on both the front and rear discs - in those omigod situations, just grab a big handful of front brake and hang on because you're slowing down fast!
