I am almost ashamed to admit this but yesteday while iam on I-75 here in kentucky I notice a late model ford cew cab 4x4 dually on my butt. I have an 03 quad cab 4x4 dually so the truck behind me is pretty similar. Anyway I am already doing 80 mph and this guy is still on my ass. I floor it and drift over to the right lane and he passed me like I was standing still. I did notice a bunch of black smoke and a big exhaust. I don't remeber the last time I was so ******. Anyway I had absolutly decided not to bomb my truck for warranty reasons but thats all changed now. I am getting a banks exhaust and the question I have is which computer box do you all recomend for maximum HP and torque and drivability and overall a good quality product. And would this type of bomb bring any waranty concerns? I am a new diesel guy so please bear with me as I learn. (also if there is any other simple bombs I can do that would give me noticible power, please let me know!)

LOL some stranger on the road insults your ego and you have to start bombing your truck now? Well, I guess we all have our reasons:-laf

Those Rickofritzzen$#&$&%$& Fast Fords

Nuthin like humiliation as a motivator. The more of you that bomb and don't break, the more I will "teeter" in that direction. Good Luck and I hope you see him again afta... :D :D

Start with gauges.

I have bombed quite a few of the 03's. Gauges with the EZ are not absolutely necessary, but I put them in almost every truck. I sell the EZ and the BullyDog box. They work great, but and a big but. Cummins Reps strongly suggest against bumping rail pressure on their engines, which is all the EZ does (except boost fooler) and most of what the Bully Dog box does (they also have some timing and pulse width modifications). If you are going to keep the truck for a while I would wait for the Edge Juice for the 03 or the TST to come out. I have been using the white face marine EV gauges from Isspro, for most 03's. A couple of the trucks I have done got Autometer Phantoms. Either looks good, but the isspro's have the blue needle and it does not match the factory insturments too well. So far all of them have gone on the pillar. I take the factory A pillar cover off and put it in the box for safe keeping, the pillar from ProPods works, although it is not a perfect fit. You might also consider the injectors from Diesel Dynamics (avaliable from their dealears too). Main problem with them is that it is a permanant mod since the OEM injectors have to go back or you pay a huge core charge.

GO BIG

GO BIG OR DONT BOTHER DOING IT. Thats what I have learned with my truck. Always go with the biggest, and most radical chip, injectors, box, whatever. Even if it means waiting for the product to come out, course with the '03 it may be a while. I went with the 275's in my truck and have felt like I have been lacking since the install. Just my thoughts!

excelent comments. I've been tenatiously reluctant myself to use a box that raises rail pressure , but this is the first reference I've heard to a cummins recommendation against it.

has anyone used the A-pillar gauge mount from genos?

anyone tried the dual westach EGT/boost gauge in white face to know how it fits in with the 3rd gen decor? I'm pondering a two-face gauge system monitoring four things: EGT, boost, rear diff temp, and engine oil temp. Maybe front diff, or perhaps transfer case temp instead of engine oil, not sure.

Don't bomb your just because some idiot in a PowerJoke cruised by you. You know your CTD is a superior truck, especially the C part! Maybe deep down you want to bomb anyway and this is just the trigger to set it in motion. Either way man, don't do it only for this reason, you're looking at risking the warranty on a $45K truck. That's some serious s*** if something goes wrong.

I'd at least wait for the technology to come around for the '03s. Remember that same joker in his 6. 0 is more than likely in for some serious problems, even if it was stock. Bombed, when he has problems Ferd could tell him to take his warranty and stick in one of the oil leaks.

Just my $. 02, which is usually worth a lot less than that.

Pillar mounts.

I am not sure what brand Geno's sells, but when I was dissapointed in the first one I go from ProPods, I started checking around. I could not find another supplier. If you do get one from Geno's and it is not a ProPods, please give some feedback. I have not heard the Rail Pressure comment from the horses mouth, but TST relayed that info to me, Mark is in the know and I don't think he would lead one astray.

I've got the new Geno's A-pilar mount on order. The new Gray one. I'll let you guys know more about it when its here. I also ordered auto meter phantoms. So thats my first step in the bombing direction.

That's what I am using along with a dual westach temp gauge. They certainly don't match perfectly, but they're close enough. I'm happy.

1. get gauges first. $236diprocols gauges are a good match on the a-pillar.

2. get the afe drop in filter with a 4" hole in the bottom of your air box $45 from

3. exhaust there is kit that uses the aero turbine retains much of stock exhaust for $265 you will get the benefit of good sound and lower egts

4as far as fueling boxes $700 (not out yet)i will not put one on my truck until they prove to be safe. i would wait for the timing and pulse width boxes this will put you over 380hp and that will be enough for you to at least hag with the most furd and chebbys

5 you clutch will hold the extra 100hp.

once you go high than 100hp you will be looking at much more expense.

total cost $1275 not too bad considering that ford that passed you was probably an stock automatic which will fail on him in a short period of time running that many ponies then he is looking a $3000 to get a good transmission

if you are willing you can put a pressure box along with pulse width and timing box larger injectors and a turbo and clutch yo will be over +500 ponies bye bye ford
