Folks,

I have fully instrumented my rig and now I feel ready to submit to the Bombing Virus that has become so prevalent around here.

I have been a long time lurker (I prefer the term "researcher") and now I feel ready to step off the diving board into the deep end of the pool!

I am bone stock except for a Mag Hytec DD pan and rear diff cover.

I would like to get an EZ but I think for the price differential the Comp would be nice... except a comp will tear up an unmodified transmission, right? And, of course, I would not be able to resist hooking up the pump wire so I couldn't just drive around without that hooked up...

Anyway, can I get new injectors (275's maybe) and an EZ and be Ok with Mr. Stock transmission?

I figure the BHAF and the 4' exhuast will follow shortly.

TIA and keep on dieselin'

MG, welcome to the bug!! YOu should know now that once you start you cant ever turn back!! :D :D For your situation I say go for the comp, you will always want more power and this way you wont have to sell and buy a new box later. Depending on how you drive and how your transmission condition is now you probably can get away with a comp ran like an EZ and some 275's. I would look at getting your transmission done when you can though so you can hook up the pump wire down the road. Enjoy!! It is much less spendy to do it right the 1st time so think about where you want to end up for power and go after it!

If you want to do it right the first time then you need to decide:

How much HP do you want?

400?

If so you will need

III's

comp or similar

hx40

and to keep it cooler

intake system

exhaust

If you go with the ez and 275's you will probably be happy for a while. Then you will have to sell the ez and 275's at a loss and get the II's and comp, then you will be happy for a while untill you think "hey I bet I would really like those III's".

MORE POWER===MORE MONEY

Either way you will need the trans upgraded. If you have 6-10,000 bucks laying around just do it all at once.

And all this depends on what you plan on using the truck for the majority of the time.

Dang MacGreenie I feel your pain!

Right now I have the BHAF, Gauges, 4" exhaust, EZ under the hood and 275's waiting in the box.

Don't want to use the 275's until the TC\valve-body issue has been dealt with.

I'm actually really enjoying this stage. I didn't get the comp box because I would use it.

Right now i'm thinking because I live and drive at 5k feet and up the 300-325HP range -or- whatever the 275's take me up to will be just about right for me, also be good for towing...

anyway transmission next 275's after that ... . then upgrade the turbo from 9cm to 12cm or 14cm still trying to learn what would be best.

If that doesn't do it CFAR is right!:D

YOU STARTED ON THE RIGHT FOOT WITH THE GUAGES NOW STAY ON THE PATH transmission NEXT! THEN THERE'S NOTHING HOLDING YOU BACK ON WHICH COMBO TO USE! ONCE YOU START BOMING IT, IT'S LIKE A DEASE. CAN'T START ON MINE YET CAN'T AFFORD TO BE "MY OWN WARRANTEE STATION" YET NEW BABY PUT THE CABASH ON IT:{ BUT LET US KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT!
