Cat died, muffler left home, air silencer ring was run over and Valvoline Premium Blue 2000 was burnt up in a garage heater.

Just changed over to Amsoil Fri. , 12/15, took old filter off, put engine cleaner in, took off filter again and drained for 1/2 hour before putting in the Amsoil. OK, am I mistaken or did my engine get a little quieter. NOw at 64 my ears deceive me, but I swear it got quieter, if a Cummins will do that.

Before the oil, my MPG went to over 20, first time I ever saw that number. Can I expect any change from the Amsoil?

Now what about the controversy about the transmission Synthetic Oil from Amsoil? Because that is my next project.

After that, Amsoil Synthetics for the differentials on my 4 wheeler.

Tell me the exact product numbers that I need for the next 2 projects.

By the way, my MPG went up, but more important my power increased noticeably. Didnt notice any change when I took the plastic from my filter through the fender, so I put it back on.

ok, i'll show my ignorance and take this thread one step back. i'm fairly new to the cummins game, and keep hearing all this about amsoil. i'm interested but have no idea where to buy it locally. went to their website and staggered when i saw the many options of oil to buy and had no idea which one to put in my truck. i've seen threads on gear oil, transmission oil, etc. , but no specifics on which amsoil engine oil to use. help!

I,d like to know how the hell you get 20 mpg??? we have the same truck and I cant touch that. #ad

I got 19 mpg in town before fuel tank sending unit took a permanent vacation. Now I can only guess. (I fill up from my own 600 gallon tank)

Stanman,

Sounds like you're well on your way Bombing! I switched my truck over to Amsoil (I am a dealer, but, just so I can buy myself) completely. I'm running the 15W40 full synthetic, with Amsoil's filter, in the engine; ATF+4 in the transmission (which I understand has been superseded); regular ATF in the transfer case, and Series 2000 75W90 in the front & rear diff's. I finished switching everything over at about 70,000 miles. The best mileage I ever saw before switching over was about 17 - 18. Now I routinely run 19 mpg, and the best I've gotten is about 21.
As for where to buy it locally K. Vickers, if you send an email to Amsoil, they will send you a name of a local rep. I'ld be glad to help you out, but, I'm still quite a ways from you.

Good to see some other properly valved Quad Cabs out there... I have gotten over 20 many times. City driving ran around 18 to 20, highway was between 20 to 23 MPG. My best was 23. 8 MPG all highway in stock configuration runnng 70. I noticed a steady decline, in my fuel economy, so I installed a straight pipe. Have'nt filled up since installing this, so I cant say how much the MPG's went up, but I can say I am doing better based on the gas gauge.
