I had to do custom work on my oil return also, I guess some of the first HTT's required it. Last time I talked to the guys at HTT they said they were working on the issue.

I have some extra lines so i will see . Their was no mention of this in the paper work plus it sits further back from center how would clocking the unit correct that ? Mike

There are many, MANY different aluminum alloys, all of which have different characteristics...

Plus we do have cooled pistons (nozzles that spray lube oil on the underside of the piston) to help control temps.

I didn't notice on ours that is sat back a little, which I could understand. I just remember that we fought that line for almost an hour and then decided to loosen up the compressor and exhaust housing bolts and turn it a little and it lined right up to the oil line then turned the compressor housing enough to line up with the intercooler lines and tightened it all up and made the next installs way easier.

Still in all you couldn't go with out doing something to the line . Did you clear the waste gate accuator ? I had to clearance mine plus i turned my block side of the return some toward the back i don't know if my whc1 would have a different return pipe than an hx35 . At any rate you did and must admit this is the worst part of the job . Reclocking the turbo yes makes good sense . Mike

I am still using my stock turbo with a 16cm2 housing. I do not tow and I'm near sea level. I do plan on installing a better/bigger turbo, but I am not in a hurry. The rest is in my sig.

Oh, I will definately admit this part of the job was the worst. The hardest part for me was getting my hands in there to get the bolts started and then trying to turn the dang wrench. I had to really play with the turbo position to get the line to line up but I didn't do anything to the line itself. Maybe I just got lucky.

Clocking the turbo can be tricky sometimes. I had to have someone hold the pliers while I turned the compressor housing. Needed both hands to turn it.

you're all nuts

after fighting the return line and at one point having it come lose and blow 3 gallons of oil in my engine compartment i knew there had to be a better way... . the L10 has the same turbo setup but an aluminum return line and it's"flexy"so you hack off the end roll the lip so its not sharp and tada one oil return line that can go around anything... . as a side note there is a gasket sealant that is kinda like shoe glue that i would recommend. you have to let it sit 2 or 3 days but it really does the trick :-laf
