Exhaust Brake ECM Pin Question

Hey guys,

It's been quite awhile since I've posted anything, and there's good reason: I pulled the ultimate bonehead move. I bought my wife a BMW 740iL at the beginning of December, and I fell in love with it... . so much so that I just had to have one too. I traded my 05 CTD in for a 2002 530i Sport. I soon grew to regret my decision.

We got hit with snow, and I immediately realized that I missed my truck. To top it off, we have a boat, a horse trailer and an Airstream... how was I going to tow? Hot glue both BMWs together? So the hunt for a replacement truck began.

Not too many dealers are excited to trade their used CTDs straight across the board for a Bimmer... . most just laugh. I hunted for many weeks, but I finally found something I am happy with.

I am going down to Houston next weekend to pick up a 2001 SLT Plus 3500 2WD CTD HO Quad Cab with 8ft bed. It has the NV5600, Dana 80, Heated leather seats, Trip console, Exhaust brake, CD/Cassette Player, Tow Package, Camper Package and has 92,850 miles. It is a 2 owner, non-smoker.

I have not been able to sleep, since I lost my mind and did what I did, literally. I have had to take Lunesta just to make it through the night. My Service Advisor told me I was crazy for doing what I did. He was right. Hopefully, in my wife's eyes, I have redeemed myself somewhat. Those of you who have tracked my past posts know what I added to our 05, and when I think about it I wonder what the hell I was thinking. I'll post again, when I've picked up my new ride.

DANG! U musta had your head in your you know what for alittle bit! :-laf

Glad to hear u happy with your findings!!!

A two wheel drive is going to do you any good. I'd keep hunting for a 4x4. The dealers on RT 40 have pletny of 2nd gens.

Well a 2WD Bimmer sure as hell didn't do me any good in this last snow/ice storm either..... at least I'll be able to tow again. As for Rt. 40 dealers, if you're talking about Crook Dodge, it'll be a cold day in Hell before I ever buy another truck from them... . my '97 came from them, and that story is way too long to tell. The other dealers want way too much money for their trucks up here.

One more year and you CAN have a diesel BMW! The 5 series and the M5 are going to be available with a diesel for '08 (according to BMW). The great news is that it is a inline 6!! My mother asked about it when she took her car in for some repairs (2001 325i). She had a 1987 Mercedes 300SDL (3 liter, 6 cyl turbodiesel), which she sold to buy the BMW. No diesel was available from Mercedes at that time. I would love to have a BMW diesel if I had a need for a car or SUV. I like that they are inline 6's and correct (rear) wheel drive. Even my mother's little gasser is a inline 6 and rear wheel drive! No wonder they have such a great reputation!

A boat, a horse trailer and airstream... ... and only bimmers... . hmmmm impulsive spending habits are very expensive. One step forward 3 steps back. Welcome back from the little German vacation.

Good thing I can take a good flaming..... I needed it, seriously. Whiskey, that link you showed me is a nice truck, but I like the one I'm getting better. Yes, BClevenger, impulsive spending habits ARE very expensive... . I AM cured! We've had the Airstream, boat and horse trailer for years. BTighe, as soon as the "new" truck is in the corral, my sig will change. I'm keeping this one for right now to remind me of how much of a dumbass I am sometimes.

Here are some pics of the 2001.

Great looking truck. I think I remember when you announced the Bimmer decision. We all rolled our eyes :-laf

Actually, you have a point there. I always like the body style of the 2nd gens better too. Don't get me wrong, I loved my 05, but I think that getting this 01 is my Godsend. I'm keeping this one till it falls apart.
