Competition Bonneville Speed Week

Bonneville Speed Week, a Southern California Timing Association annual event will be the week of 16 through 22 August. This will be a chance to see the hottest of the hot in gassers and smokers. I don't know if Banks Inc will be there with another record setting Cummins, but hope to find out soon as two of my pals are President and Secretary of the SCTA and record holders themselves. I hope to be there in spite of what should be rather warm weather... ... there is ample camping off the salt and within minutes driving time.

Banana Slug

Watch for the big banana slug lookin' streamliner with the twin turboed 12v engine. It should run about 300 this year.

yep funny thing about that nana slug is its no slug at all and runs ..... you guessed it Bell turbos and Budda fuel :--)

Scuttlebutt was the engine wasnt' right. Never hit stride. RPM were way under expectations.

Didja notice the nice right up in the TDR (mag) which coincidently never mentioned Pius or Bell Turbo???

What is the deal to spectate a little for a day or 2 or 3 if really interesting stuff is happening, anybody do this or is it all competitors only? Chris

It is open to anybody. The pit pass usually is 5. 00 a day. No overnight on the salt but there are areas near by where you can camp. Most of the rooms in town are booked long time in advance. This year Speedweek is August 16 to 22.

My recommendation is to go the first 2 or 3 days when all the competitors are running and not working like mad. It goes much quicker and you get to see much more.
