Long time member, first time post. Thanks for all the info in the past, folks.
I *really* like the service I got from
Jannetty Racing Enterprises when I ordered my guages. Sent me everything right, first time and quickly to boot. (Thanks, Ted)
I ordered the triple full pillar pod, Autometer Ultra Lite Boost and AutoMeter UL EGT. The boost is 0-50psi, btw, only source I know of for them. Plan to order a fuel pressure guage for the third.
I mounted my boost fitting in the 3/4" pipe hole in the intake using two adaptors to neck it down to fit the supplied fitting. (Bought the adaptors at Home Depot)
Drilled and taped the exaust manifold with tap and bit from Sears, tested on scrap aluminum to be sure of proper fit. When tapping, I used grease to catch filings and cleaned up with a magnet, afterwards. The more you run the pipe style tap in, the further the fitting will screw in. You want the fitting to stop flush with the inside surface so it was stop and check as I created the threads so as not to run the fitting in too deep when tighted in. I measured the inside diameter (eyeballed) and made a red mark on the probe so that when slid down in place, the probe would stop mid-way in the exauste stream. I used anti-sieze on the treads of the fitting going into the manifold on the EGT probe. (teflon tape on the threads of the boost fittings)
I painted the pod with SEM Bumper Coater #39163 Smoke M (medium) spray paint. I matched the Agate interior with a color sheet from an automotive paint supplier. Matches great, though it's a full pod and not right against existing as would be a half pod. (I slightly heated the can with a torch while shaking to get it to flow good when spraying, big difference in laying down the paint, looks like factory color of the plastic, not sprayed on. No need for a cup gun and mix when a spray can works great. (Warning: can says not to heat up or store above 120F)
I wired up at the fuse box with wire under the fuse. Pyro box 12volt from radio fuse, guage lights from illum fuse to work with dimmer. I daisy chained the guage lights from one guage to the other. The wires under the fuses (shoved in with fuse)are on the fused side of the sockets. Checked which side was fused with voltmeter with fuse out. Outside from center is fused side. Grounds go to a screw in the firewall. Small box for pyrometer is under the dash, wires came through firewall through existing hole that hood latch cable comes through, left of clutch.
