So I'm contemplating the EZ / Warranty issue in my head the other day and the thought occured to me that it probably doesn't void the warranty b/c it plugs in down stream, but then I have the revelation that the ECM probably records max boost acheived and max rmp turned by the fuel pump. If it does record these things, then any dealer can see that 27 psi boost isn't stock and the increased fuel pump rpms/psi aren't normal. End result = they void your warranty.

Can anyone confirm / refute this idea?

BTW... a VERY CLOSE friend of mine put one in his 98. 5 24V and his mpgs went up...

Part of the ez "circuitry" contains a "boost module" which limits the boost the ecm sees to around 20psi... thus no check engine light with the ez

dmurdock- the EZ that I saw in action got a full 27 psi of boost with the module. No "check engine light" though.

Mark, the MAP sensor voltage is clipped so the ECM never sees anything to tell it your overboosting. Are you ready for more power yet? How are your 4th gear on-ramp acceleration results?

Mark,
I put in the ez with 275's and the elbow recently and it puts out about 31psi unloaded(have not towed yet). My understanding is what Fred is saying. The EZ sends a signal to mask the increase in boost. So your ECM sees 20psi when you actually getting 30psi. The computer never knows that the boost is over spec.

If the boost module part of the EZ doesn't work, will I only see stock boost numbers?

Big A, if the boost module was not working you would get check engine lights. The boost module is the part that limits what the computer "sees", the elbow is the part that would allow more boost. It bleeds the pressure off of the wastegate actuator making it open at a higher pressure.
