I have been driving "blind" (guage-less) for a while, so I don't know what my baseline boost and EGT were when stock. I installed a TST #6 to take the 160 hp up to 230 hp; then I slid it and the AFC housing all the way forward and spun the star wheel all the way toward the engine. Smoke is not a problem, and is only thick from a standing start with heavy pedal. I rarely go nuts with my right foot, but sometimes a bottleneck in the road before the next stoplight will force me to. Anyway, I figured that I had better get some guages to monitor the engine functions. My questions: After a "temporary" guage installation to make sure it works and before permanent mounting, I'm seeing 4# of boost at 65 mph (1750 rpm in O/D lockup) on flat highway. That seems kind of low to me. Normal or not? Also, I did floor it once just to see if the boost would get higher than the stock 18#-20# and to see what the EGT max would be. The max boost was about 32# and blew the hose off the barbed connector in the manifold. EGT (post-turbo) was never more than 700 degrees F and was usually about 450 to 500 at 65 mph cruise. Is this too cool? Should I worry about guage accuracy? It's a Westach dual unit 0#-30# boost and 400 - 1800 degrees. Any input from Rammers experienced with these things will be greatly appreciated.
