I see some guys run a boost elbow and some do not with a fueling box (EZ, TTPM etc. ) is a boost elbow necessary with these boxes or does not running a elbow somewhat defeat the effect. Do you get more boost with the box over stock with no elbow or not???

IMO, unless you run more boost, you are pretty much wasting your time with the boxes. The boost elbow allows you to run more boost.

Why would you want to run more fuel with a box and not take advantage of the boost that is available? If you start running more fuel and the boost stays low you are going to have higher EGT's.

I run an EZ w/out the elbow because I'm still in warranty. If I take it for repairs I just have to unplug the EZ w/out having to take out the elbow as well. If you take out the EZ w/out removing an elbow you can set an overboost code or risk having it spotted. Laziness is my motivation.

I am running...

without the boost elbow for my EZ installed. I have not had time to get it installed since I got the EZ. I will do it as soon as I get a chance. More boost is a good thing!:D

In the meantime pulling 14,000#, I have had no EGT problems so far with the EZ set on max fueling at the lowest boost level possible. EGTs have never exceeded 1150*. I probably could if I tried really hard with 14,000#, but the truck runs like a rocket without pushing any harder. :D

Stock, my ETH would hit 1300 degF pre-turbo EGT when towing our 36' 13,500 lb 5th wheel. One weekend I added the EZ, boost elbow and 4" exhaust system. Maximum pre-turbo EGT dropped to 1100 degF. The increased airflow generated courtesy of the boost elbow was the largest contributor to this drop in EGTs.

throw that boost elbow in the garbage and get a turbo master

well worth the $$$$

if u need to remove yer box yah just back the pressure off with a 1/2 inch wrench so u dont over boost

and a good dealer wont jerk yer warranty for having one

unless you are too lazy to set it correctly

much quicker and easier than messing with that elbow

(I am not affiliated in any way to the turbo master, just like it)

I just installed my EZ with the elbow. I can reach a max boost of about 24 psi and can easily get my egt's to 1200 pre-turbo not towing a thing... but thats about the highest they will go... .

Must be time to get rid of that muffler :)

with my comp and no elbow I was hitting low to mid 30's on boost with no problem.

with a turn buckle on there I can hit 43. This poor this HY must be hating life.

This was all before upgrading my comp to a drag comp.

Not sure what I will see once my HX-40 goes in.

OK, so I am running a Diablo Puck and it came with no boost elbow... . does that mean I should buy a boost elbow?

Also... someone spoke of a "turbo master"... . what is that?

It takes all of 5 minutes to unscrew 1 boost elbow and put the stock one back in. Heck it took me longer to fish around and unplug/re-attach the wire connectors to the box than changing out the elbow.

I just towed at 18k gross over the weekend up and down the mountain passes on I-15. Most of the time it was 20-24lbs boost and my egt's never went over 700 post-turbo. That's with the stock air filter (neck removed from the fender well). My EGTs were higher than that before I went with the box/boost elbow.

To each his own but again, it's so easy to put in or take off and the benefit is there, plus you paid for it.

Turbo Master is a wastegate actuator that replaces the stock one and is adjustable for the amount of boost you would like to limit to
