No Turbo,no Power

Has anyone tried running a Quadzilla boost fooler with a plug in box like the EZ? I just got the boost fooler and the instructions say not to use with a plug in box. I wish Quadzilla would have posted this info before I spent the $$$.

06,2500 QC 4x4 SB auto,5"turbo back,volant intake,edge ez.

The EZ plugs into the MAP sensor and manipulates the signal sent to the trucks computer. That's how the boost foolin' is done. You have to do other things to the wastegate solonoid.

You could sell the boost fooler and recoup your $$.

I am pretty sure the very first thing we say is if you are using a "programmer or downloader" this is something you need.

Now, with that said some of the EZ's do boost fooling and some do not. I really do not know how to tell as I have not messed with hardly an Ez's. If you have a boost gauge you can tell. If your 06 hits about 30-32psi with the EZ then it does not do boost fooling. If it hits 38-40psi it probably does boost fooling.

Also there are a few boxes out there that the boost fooler works great with like the power puck and we have several guys that I know of running them with the Juice.

Max pressure is 30psi. Acording to the folks at EDGE, the EZ for the 06 DOES NOT fool boost codes. They stated you need adtional equipment to fool the map sensor and the electronic wastegate. Is there anything on the market to do this with? I was told the Quadzilla would work but after I got it,it sounds like it won't work.

Yes, it will work fine. The reason we do not advertise it or say not to use it with a module is that we do not want people buying something that they do not need. I mean sure we want to sell parts but, not to the point that we want to sell something that is not needed.

Your boost fooler will work perfect. Just plug your EZ into the factory sensor, then plug our boost fooler into the other side of the EZ, then the factory side into the other end of the boost fooler.

basically you want the EZ plugged in first and then the bosot fooler so that the boost fooler is attched directly to the ECM side.

Thank you for the info. I didn't want to install the fooler and foul up the EZ or the trucks computer. Thanks again:cool:

qzilla, will the commander read the accurate boost pressure if a Smarty and a fooler are run together, second question is right now I get about 25psi at 2000 rpm, I don't usually get the rpm's over 2500-3000 at the most, will the fooler increase, performance, mpg?

The Commander will read boost accurately. You just need to make certain that your boost signal wire is always attched at the connector coming directly off the sensor.

I would doubt your boost at 2500rpms while cruising will change much if any at all. The boost fooler really does not do anything until you start to reach the max threshold stock around 28-32 psi. Now you do not have to be WOT for it to work, you could be hauling a load. What it does is keep the wastegate shut so that you will make more boost. When this happens you egt's will be cooler than before and you will make more power on the upper end when more boost is being made.

Up to this threshold you will never even know the boost fooler is on there.

Just ordered my boost fooler a couple of weeks ago (love it, truck is more peppy) The tech asked me right away how I was Fueling my truck and mentioned that I had to use injectors and/or a programmer. No trouble understanding that. Great product too for $80 bucks

I'm not too happy with quadzilla products. . last year I bought a xzillaraider 140hp race box. After installing it I noticed about the same power increase as my edge ez... I bought it from Geoff off of ebay and when I used my 30 day money back gurantee he charged 20% restocking fee, like 50 bucks:rolleyes: ... Is the xzillaraider a pressure timing box?? Hope your boost fooler works for you... Wesley

The restocking fee has NOTHING to do with Quadzilla. We offer a 30day unconditional return policy. I cannot force anyone to honor this as that is not exactly legal.

There is a good lesson in this though that you might not always be getting the best service from the lowest price.

And if you only got the same power gains as your EZ then something is very wrong. Not sure what as I do not guess I was ever in a troubleshooting loop. You can do a search and find plenty of dyno and track results that would easily show that it makes a considerable amount more power than an EZ?

So, all in all not sure that you brought much good to this thread but, it is always nice to bring up a bad experience with a totally seperate compnay but, try to bash Quadzilla for it???

Very appropriate thread. I plan on buying a qzilla boost fooler today and was looking at older threads in regards to performance of it. I've been hesitant to buy until I researched it. I towed my 16K 5th a week ago loaded heavier and up steeper grades than normal and my EGT's were higher than I have typically seen 1500+ and my BD ramped to stock and I'm of course pulling a 40+mph, but it makes me uncomfortable at this temp for a good amount of time, so I was hoping the boost fooler would assist in this. My boost was around 27psi. I know the biggest gain would be a bigger turbo to exhaust faster, but I need a bang for the buck helper for now so the boost fooler intriqued me to try.

Well not to get anyone all booty hurt, but I had a bad experience with the

xzillaraider, I tried to get it replaced, but geoff stated there was nothing wrong with the box... . I never bashed qzilla for having to pay the 20%restocking fee... The box did not do what it is supposed to do for my truck so I was not happy with the product... Alot of ppl have had good luck with your boxes, besides the fact that it interferes with radios... . Maybe you are right my post had nothing to do with this thread... The lesson that I did learn was not to buy something that no one else is really running..... 9 sigs out of ten are running TST, Smarty, Power Pup, or TSmp8... ...

I ran a Smarty - EZ - Quad BF on mine and it deffinatley helped my EGTs. The EZ does not do boost fooling on 04. 5-07. The QuadBF is a great way to loose some egts and pick up a few ponies, and you just cant beat the price.

On the instructions that come with the fooler along with Quads web site, it says not to use it with a module that already does boost fooling (hints Quads statement about not getting somthing you dont need).

Just plug it in with the EZ and have fun.

WPeschel- I You might have had something wrong the box you got!! With the quad race box on 4 i put down 711ft-ibs. with nothing but no muff, cold air, and the cat was still on. Im running an 06 6 speed 4x4 and i have the sheet to prove it. you might want to try another seller. Quad is a helluva company. i bought mine from a TDR member for my 05 and when i got my 06 they let me send it in free of charge(besides shipping) for the reprogram to my 06. you should seriously reconsider. im sorry for your bad experience but hell, nothins perfect and you might have gotten a dud or somethin! Having a manufacturer produce a flawless product on every one is impossible and theres always a small f()ck up every now and again. You should have called quad with your problem, they would have gotten you all setup and happy.

Yeah not to mention but QZILA, like other manufacturers on here, will post responses and air it all out, right here for all eyes to see. That says something of those manufacturers.

P. S. NO ONE FROM EDGE ON HERE, I mentioned TDR to a tech at Edge and he told me there is a lot of useless information on TDR:eek:

Then he prceeded to tell me my 05' was 600 ft lbs of torque not 610 B. S.

Keep up the good work QZILLA..... Smokin Joe
