Hi guys. If I installed a Boost Fooler but kept everything else stock, would I get ANY advantage? Most of the time, my truck is running down the road at 80, but I do occassionally tow my 35 ft fiver.

I'm probably going for injectors, but I may snag a Boost Fooler in the meantime, if I find a good price on one; I understand I'll need it for bigger injectors. Thanks.

With a 99....

my first mod was aboost fooler (thanks cannonball) and I went from19-25lbs of boost with that installed and the elbow on the turbo (it comes in the kit). SOP said there was more power and the EGT went down 30-40 deg.

I installed the boost fooler and wastegate device recently and get 23. 5 lbs of boost versus 19. The truck does feel stronger on the grades and egt's are down a bit. I think there is room in the fueling curves to provide some more h. p. but do not know how much.

there's no need to use a boost fooler unless you're adding more fuel. sure, the turbo sounds better, and there will be a small drop in EGT's. you will need it in the future however with higher fueling (injectors without a box)(i'm sure you know that)

I have run with boost module only and there is a power gain, but it is slight. If YOUR truck and YOUR driving create high EGT it is not a bad idea at all. If you can get the boost module under $75 used GO FOR IT!! Won't hurt a thing and might just help.

Practical Solutions makes the cheapest new unit that I know of, about $150 or so I think. I have bought and sold a couple for under $100, I would keep an eye on the classifieds if I were you.

There are quite a few TDR guys in WI and the surrounding states, If you are interested in meeting up at one of our gatherings let me know and I will put you in touch with the guy (Fireman Dave) that keeps everyone on the same page.

If any of you are so inclined the cost to build your own,it is less than 15$. hardware store(brass elbow 1/8 npt 3-4$, 1/8x1/4 set screw 40cents drop or2 of loctite) Radio shack(22k ohm resistor, 2 diodes, 18" wire, 2 plugs and heat shrink. very straight forward. :D

enjoy... hell if their was enuff demand i would crant 'em all day long for 25$$:)

People with hardlined wastegates use a turnbuckle & not the brass elbow. .

One of the problems I'm struggling with is my truck is not a Dodge RAM, it's has the ISB with dual ECMs, 215HP 605 lbs of torque where the RPMs are limited to 2500. Just off the turbo I see 24 lbs of boost. I'm worried if I install the MAP fooler which limits the ECM to thinking I'm only at 20 lbs of boost, it will cause a problem.

( In laymans terms)... . what the boost module does is clip the voltage, it fools the Ecm into thinking it has never reached enough boost pressure, thus allowing the pump & electronics to keep sending fuel to the motor.

Without these diodes and resister the electronic pump will begin to cut back the amount of fuel, after the predetermined pressure or voltage has been reached.

hope this helps.
