Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Boost Fooler Elbows????

Hey guys,

Some time back I saw something about an adjustable boost fooler elbow... ... ... ... . now I can't find it.



Does anybody have one of these for sale or know where I can get one???



What are the pro's and con's of installing such a critter??

I saw a guy on the TDR Classifieds selling them for like $15. With an adjustable boost elbow I guess you could dial in the amount of boost wanted vs what a non-adjustable boost elbow gives you.

A boost fooler and a boost elbow are different animals. A fooler wont let your ECM see over ~20PSI regardless what the trubo puts out. An elbow (adjustable) wont let your wastegate see over ~20PSI, therby allowing your turbo to produce more air flow. You need both.

Ditto on what Tejas said. They are two diefferent things that work together. If you are running an aftermarket fuel box, most of them have boost foolers built into them. So all you would need would be the boost elbow.

Most after market boxes also come with a boost elbow. Injectors will also sometimes come with one.

Ok,

so I would need a box that tells my ECM that I am not getting the boost that I am and an elbow that limits the wastegate pressure so it doesn't dump the increased boost... ... ... ..... correct?



And hopefully the box is one that adds fuel to assist in the increase in air from the boost... ... ... . is that right?



What would happen if you added the "elbow" that decreases the pressure to the wastegate... ... ... . which will allow more boost to build without adding more fuel to the system????



Will it lean out the mixture?

Less power?

Chance of burning a piston like in a gasser??

You'll get more boost presure to a certain extint, then the computer will since an overboost and the outcome will be a check engine light and it will defuel to get the boost back down. So you need a boost fooler to let the computer think it is running a normal amount of boost

I bought a Bully Dog Technologies "Torque Dog" a while back and it came with a circular housing with a wire that plugs into the back of the fuel pump. A friend of mine bought a Diablo Sport "Power Puck" which appears to be the exact same thing as my "Torque Dog" but his came with what I believe is a boost fooler (a small electrical connector that plugs into the MAP sensor) and a boost elbow.



Why does the Torque Dog not include these pieces and do I need them? If I do need them where can I get just the boost fooler?

The only lean harm you can do is stall... . no fuel to burn no go. As for a lean burnt piston The opposite is true for diesels. Too much fuel and insufficient air may burn a pistion (Take a truck with stage 5 injectors and a stock turbo . A ton of fuel with low boost. High EGT temps twards 1800 can burn a piston... . usually # 6 but thats a different movie at anothe theatre. )
