Boost for ETH

I keep checking my turbo hoses for leaks, i. e. loose clamps. Everyone says I would lose boost and mpg if they are loose. What kind of boost pressure should I expect from a stock ETH?

It depends on where you're taking the reading from and the type of gauge you're using.

If you're reading from out in the intake tract somewhere, you may see as high as 24psi. If you're tapped into the cylinder head beside the M. A. P. Sensor the computer will start defueling at 20psi and you'd be lucky to see 21psi with aftermarket exhaust and or intake enhancements. (this is Full Tilt, either loaded up or wound up)

Normal driving you may see 6 or 7 psi at cruise.

Ps. If a clamp is REAL loose, you may even hear blow by/out.

Stock boost is supposed to be 23. 5 psi at the turbo, so count on 21-22 maximum at the intake manifold. Before injectors, my boost would hit 23, never any higher.

I have never gone higher than 20 PSI at the port on the head.

I'm planning on installing a boost guage in the next week or so. Where is the popular location for the fitting? It sounds like the most accurate is at the head.

Kevin,
There is a 3/4" plug right above the filter housing. Get a 3/4" plug with a reducer to 1/8" and you can tap right it to it there.

I never saw more than 19# at the intake manifold on my ETH. Less in hot dry air.

Mine would max out at 20 using that 3/4 plug in the head for a source and while stock. With the EZ box and elbow I now see 28 on the boost gauge at WOT.
