2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Boost Gage Install

Ok! I'm convinced. I'm ready to install EGT and Boost gages. I have a port post turbo that will take an EGT sensor but I can't locate a likely place to install a boost sensor. I need help from someone who has done this. From what I read on these threads it seems as if everyone has a boost gage - some of you must have some sage advice.

My DiPricol gauge came with a boost fitting that replaced one of the intake manifold bolts. Works beautifully. If you already have the gauge you can get the fitting separately from PDR.

George, Installed mine about 2 years ago, but believe the boost was pretty easy--drilled into the aluminum elbow and installed a brass fitting supplied by Westach--ran tube they supplied into my three-hole post cover. Was pretty straight forward... . P. S. I installed those NAPA brake cylinders today and first time this 'old' 99--3500 stopped so well--really felt the back brakes for the first time!!!!! R, J. Get the setup where you replace the intake bolt with a hollow one. This works very well, is cheap, and is VERY EASY to install. I have an extra setup if you need one. Most new gauges come with them though. Worth the money no matter what though.

I was just out in the dark and rain trying to find the port post-turbo that you are using for your EGT. Where is it? Did a previous owner have a EGT in your truck, or I am blind?

A couple of years ago I installed a Pac-Brake exhaust brake which involved replacing the elbow leaving the turbo. The new elbow from Pac-Brake has the port.



Thanks for the replies re the boost fitting. I now feel comfortable about the boost gage and am ready to order.

Under recommendation from other members back when I was doing the same I went to Piers and ordered the replacement manifold bolt. It's a 5 minute job (or less) to back out the OEM bolt and screw in the boost capable one.

The boost dose not have a sensor just a fitting your choise to keep it in place suction due to air moving causes suction and works the gauge. I removed the air hose to the intake drilled a hole in the intake just after the round end turns to a square flat surface taped for a brass 1/8 npt and used a fitting from home Depot that cost . 79cents used a four foot long 1/4 rubber line from tractor supply 1. 20$ attached to gauge in A piller. After removing the air hose clamp and removing the hose from the intake I covered it to keep shavings out they fall out of the intake straight down so the hose has to be moved and covered .
