Homemade bypass filter install

Hmm, not sure here

Running the Smarty with the after market turbo. So there's no waste gate opening here.

I'm watching the boost on a WOT run and it's at 40-ish. really jumpy, 38-42. shakes rather bad.

Is this:

1. Boost leak?

2: broke gauge?

3. The fact that it's the stock turbo running way outa it's map?

4. leak in the boost gauge hose?

i just finished my twins and there is still boost defueling at 44psi with smarty programs. called bob wagner and he told me to install a boost fooler and now i can get over the 44psi. mark. smarty does boost fooling but not over 44psi.

Well, I'm assuming it's the drive pressure forcing the waste gate open? I'm running the smarty software that's supposed to disable the watse gate.

Current beta that is.

Keeping on an eye on things. around 40 is normal for me

My Autometer 60 psi needle shakes when it's in the 40 and above range. I either run the Smarty or my Hot Juice/EZ stack but usually not both together and the guage shakes either way. Tabbott may have a good point because my boost bolt is near an intake. I wonder if the needle would stabilize if I moved the pickup location to the CFM intake I recently installed.

I fixed my shackyness problem..... I make sure the intake system doesn't leak! :)

So, I got this fancy new Banks CAC; intercoolr, tubes, boots and intake horn. Well, while "cleaning it" (it's used) I dropped it. wooops! not seing any obvious cracks, I installed it.

The boost gauge did the same with the stock CAC system, shook over 35-psi-ish

Two weeks later, I finally get around to pressure testing. WOW, I had 2 large leaks on the hot side, one on top, one on the bottom. So I parked hte truck, barrowed a suv and had the intercooler fixed up. They just had to "suck in" some epoxy into 3 cross tubes. where it seperated from the end cap. Pressure tested to 40psi. i's got some "character" for a few square inches on theCAC, but for the most part, it's fine. you can't see the issues while installed.

Anywho. I pressure tested it to about 35psi before my drain pipe end cap would blow off (and smack and dent the oil filter, had to change this... ). all is good no leaks. Kinda crazy how much does blow by the pistons tho.

Anywho. on my test drive the needle is steady at 45psi! w00t! fixed! And I have the gauge plumbed into the boost bolt!

BTW, boost, is much quicker now with the leaks fixed on this little PS62.

As for the pressure tester. it's a 4" OD PVC end cap. I drilled out a hole for an air compressor fitting, let the fitting "tap" the hole as it was being screwed in and use some pipe thread (it's yellow) sealer around both sides and dry for a day. If you have an AFE or after market intake, you can use the rubber fitting they use to go from turbo to new tubes to clamp around hte PVC.

My boost needle shakes as well. My boost bolt is close to the intake manifold too. It is an autometer phantom II. Maybe I should check for leaks.
