Boost Gauge Install/ Boost Problem?

Installing an X-Monitor that I got from Geno's. The Trans & EGT work on the digital display, but the BOOST Pressure has no display. Called the help telephone number displayed on the X monitor screen (thats a good place for the tel # to appear) Dieselperformanc wanted to verify that I had removed one of the intake manifold bolts and installed their drilled bolt. I did that. In fact I tried two different locations. Still no vacuum.

Bought a Vacuum gauge and checked the vacuum. At 2200 RPM there is . 3 on the meter. I am at a loss.

Do you have an idea what my problem is?

('')

thanks

I don't think you should be seeing vacuum--vacuum is the opposite of boost.

The boost gauge reads in psig--psi above atmospheric pressure. Could be a plugged tube or a bad gauge.

Got a pressure gauge handy? Though it won't do you much good reading unloaded. I don't start seeing boost until late in second gear under heavy throttle. Redline it in neutral, the needle stays on the peg, or imperceptably far away from it. Maybe tape it to the windshield and drive? I know the boost bolt that I got from Genos (DiPricol gauges) had instructions for which bolt to replace. I think there were three of them that would work--might check you've got the right one.

If you have an air source that will give you 20 psi or so, try checking your X-monitor with that.

Good luck.

--Ty, thanks for the direction. I'll try it.

Screwed up on the discription (vacuum) of the gauge. The only one I could find at Pep-Boys was a dual gauage. It is a "compound meter" Fuelpump Pressure and vacuum gauge.

The X Moniter instructions don't tell you which bolt to use on the intake plenum, but does show a picture.

Ah, okay--I guess that would work. If you tape it to the windshield, make sure it's with 100-mph tape :D .

I'd look at my illustration and tell you which bolts it outlined, but I don't have it anymore. I think I used the third one back, maybe the fourth--my truck isn't here, or I'd look. Anyone else know for sure?

Thanks Sticks.

Actually I generated the whole problem. I did not understand that measurable BOOST is not generated in my driveway.

Once I got on the road, up the mountain, I saw some numbers on the BOOST read-out of the X Monitor.

Learn a little each day. Thanks TDR members. ;)
