I have the AutoMeter UltraLight 0 - 35 psi boost gauge that I am ready to install. The nylon tube that runs from the gauge to the air horn in the engine does not seem to fit tight enough to prevent an air leak or to prevent it from pulling out accidently with the smallest of tugs.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you use to prevent the tube from pulling out at either end?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Shouldn't be a problem.

I just installed my Autometer Z series (Can't imagine they shipped a different tube). Make sure the crush collar is on the tube then tighten. It just needs to be secure not overtightened or you can damage the tubing.

BWB,

I have only tried finger tightening as much as I can so far. It still pulls out very easily. Did you use a wrench to tighten more than finger tight?

Eventer,

You have to use a wrench. The compresion fitting crushes the ferrule just a little so that it will seal properly. Use one or two fingers, 4-8 in lbs if you have a torque wrench.

Mick, more like 4-8 inch/lbs. I like to run the tube though a larger one, 1/4", to keep it from kinking or getting cut.

Thanks guys!

I had already purchased rubber tubing to protect the nylon tubing. I don't think my torque wrench measures as low as 4 - 8 inch/pounds but I will check.

Needless to say I am just being over cautious. I don't want to screw this up!

Thanks again!

Once the tubing is installed properly (tightened down) pulling the hose out should be impossible. Just make sure when tightening the fitting on the gauge you use 2 wrenches, one to hold the gauge so you dont crack anything.
