I installed my isspro boost guage a few hours ago. On the test run, I noticed a rattle or grinding noise as pressure built up. It's not real bad, but its definately there. Is there any way to fix this? It ain't nothing I couldn't live with however.

I just did a gauge set in a car and the boost gauge did the same thing. Mike at Auto Wurks Diesel had a brass fitting that goes in place of the one in the manifold that was originally designed for exhaust brake gauges to stop them from rattling. It stopped the rattle and didn't affect the boost at all. It has a pinhole compared to the 1/16" hole that the brass fitting the gauge came with has. I think I remember Mike saying he got it from BD.

Mine did the exact same thing. I called the vendor I got it from and they sent me a replacement. It does it also. I believe this has been discussed before and is a characteristic of this guage.

I am very interested in this fitting and will give BD a call later today and talk to them about this issue.

My banks boost guage does the same thing once it gets near 30psi it starts to rattle like crazy. I think isspro makes the guages for banks. I would definitely also like to know about the BD fitting remedy.

Okay guys, Mine did the same thing when I installed it. Apparrantly the nylon carries the vibration from the engine up to the gauge. To cure the problem I cut the nylon line about 18 inches from the manifold and inserted a 6 inch rubber hose... . NO MORE PROBLEM. think it cost me about 50 cents.

Mr. B, the device they are talking about is called a gauge snubber or pulsation damper. They are available at most hydraulic shops. I paid $8 for a 1/8"NPT one to take the pulses out of my fuel pressure gauge.

I have ashort piece of nylon tubing coming out of the intake fitting, then vacuum hose all the way into dash,a small inline fuel filter, vacuum line to another short(2")nylon tube into the back of boost gauge. Quiet as a mouse. This was one of the suggestions on another thread about noisy boost gauges.

som just cut into the nylon line, and insert a new dry fuel filter? that's it? sill try it, cuz i am on my second guage and it rattles on hard acceleration too.

any thoughts please...

Mr Badfish, you might be on to something. I didn't cut my line for the boost. I coiled some of the extra line under the dash and some under the hood. My guage doesn't rattle at all, even at almost 30 lb boost. (thanks DD) #ad

Got a fix for this one. Call BD and ask for a 1/8 NPT snubber. The part # on my invoice is 1200210. I installed it last night and it is working great. It cost less than $3. 00

Good luck,
Mike

Liquid Filled works. This one pegs out at thirty ( then the Bank's guage continues to38 psi) #ad
