Boost line to aneroid came loose

Anybody heard of this happening. A friend of mine's wife was driving his truck. All a sudden they heard a hissing sound, smoke like crazy, and no power. What happened was the sensing line to the aneroid came loose. What could have caused it. The truck is a stock 93 W350.

Not sure, check all the spark plugs maybe it has a miss and is idleing rough. LOL, probably just the normal rattlin' of these old dinosaurs.

With all the vibration of these engines it is possible to have that bolt loosen up... . Also it uses a sort of fibre washer (2) which if not tight will allow some boost loss.

Just snug up the little booger and you're good to go.

What is the aneroid and the boost line that goes to it? Tell more about the fiber washer... Curious, Patrick.

The aneroid is a smoke control device- not only for emissions, but for not looking like a tire fire while accelerating in traffic. The boost line is what allows the pump to add fuel as boost from the turbo increases. I would guess the fiber washers are what go into the banjo bolt that secures the line to the housing on the pump.

Read the VE info in the stickies in this forum. You can see an updated/ cheaper replacement version of the AFC line in the discontinued parts forum. I came up with it about 3-4 months ago, and posted a pic.
