Don't disconnect the hose to the AFC. If you need to, move the other end of the hose to the intake manifold. If it is not connected to the AFC it won't work. The result is that the engine will run great, but you start to worry that kids on bikes are going to beat you across an intersection. Boost is what moves the AFC throttle stop out of the way so the plate can take over max fuel control. If that does not happen it's like having a block of wood under the throttle pedal.
