What does the hose that goes from the turbo (wastegate) to the AFC housing do?

I am under the impression that while installing aftermarket turbos that the hose will be disconnected.

What are the pros/cons of getting rid of this hose?

thanks

That is the boost signal line to the wastegate actuator. Most replacement turbos get the signal from the outlet of the turbo. No big deal. The factory set up did take into acount the boost drop through the cooler and tubes.

I am under the impression that the line moves the arm in diafram. You want that hooked up, i have a different turbo on mine so my boost line comes from the intake block to the afc.

on yours yes there is a tee. one line goes to the wastegate the other to the afc. on some older trucks they did it differently

Does the line at all have to do with the operation of the fueling in the AFC?

Thanks

Eric,if you change turbos,just plug the line at the afc end(remove 1/8 npt nipple and install plug).

Thats what i did but then they told me that me afc was not fueling all the way with it pluged up. That line pushes the diafram in the afc thqt moves the arm to the fuel plate. So if it is not hooked up you are not getting all of your power. I have a hx40 on my truck so it does not run from the turbo to the afc, instead it comes from the intake block to the afc. But it is to my understabding that you need this hooked up unless you take off your govering arm in the afc. Maybe someone will chime in to back me up or shut me up. :-{}

Don't disconnect the hose to the AFC. If you need to, move the other end of the hose to the intake manifold. If it is not connected to the AFC it won't work. The result is that the engine will run great, but you start to worry that kids on bikes are going to beat you across an intersection. Boost is what moves the AFC throttle stop out of the way so the plate can take over max fuel control. If that does not happen it's like having a block of wood under the throttle pedal.

You must have misunderstood me. I did not mean to disconnect the pressure line to the afc from the head. Pull the hose nipple that goes to the turbo and plug that.
