I did a search and really didn't find the numbers I was looking for. I recently installed a TST box. I have refrained from running higher than 5/5 (except for that one time as I blew passed a ferd :-laf )

My questions is even with the change of the wastegate elbow. I am only seeing a max of 25psi on my mechanical gauge. I can understand the electronics of increase in performace but is my readings normal or could I have some blow by somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Boost

I would give TST a call and ask what the boost should be. The 2004. 5 has a different turbo setup than yours and I am boosting 32 psi.

JDG, I have the same setup as you, 04 HO engine with 6spd. I am seeing a high of 28lbs boost at level 5. I just installed the TST friday night. At 7x7 I will see it spike to 38, then drop instantly to 32 and hold until I let it off. I installed the boost elbow from the TST kit. I didn't adjust the elbow set screw yet. I left it at the setting they put it in the box with. I think its just spooling so fast the elbow can't slow it down, at first. Now looking for a fuel pump.

My understanding is that the new program they are sending out is more mild than the old one so results may vary. Mine used to spike to 35-38 and settle out around 32 on setting 5:5 with a very subtle hint of smoke. I suspect at a max boost of 25 you need to tighen the allen screw on your boost elbow just a little and give it a road test until you get up around 30psi.

I've ran my new program edition of the TST on level 4-3 and see 30 lbs of boost. it gets hot and shuts off before i'm up to 70-80 mph. would a little more boost hurt the turbo and/or help with EGT's.

30 psi is nearing the top of the map for an HY-35. You may cool down a bit buy pushing your boost up to 33-34 but beyond that it's so inefficient you don't gain anything. You said "it get's hot and shuts off", what is your limiter set at?

it's factory set at 1350. I wasn't sure with the 12cm housing if it would be able to push a little more boost. my 01 H. O. would push 36 lbs pretty easy.

Actually the third gen trucks have a 9cm^2 housing, that's why they spool instantly. You can puch it up there a litle farther if you like. I ran mine for 8 months seeing boost numbers as high as 39psi before I switched turbos. I never had a problem with it.

I thought i read where the 600's had a little bigger housing? What kind of turbo are you running now with that setup? I would like a good single turbo that works with the tst and possibly a ez after my transmission upgrades.

If I understood correctly the compressor housinf on the 600's is slightly larger but the back end is the same. But then again, I've been wrong before

Two weeks ago I installed a Killer B2 from High Tech Turbo. Thus far I'm liking it. It spools like the stock turbo, whistles a little more and supplys ample air to run the TST on setting 5:5 and not worry about temps. I would guess close to 400 hp with safe temps (less than 1250°)
