Boost #'s on an '03

Dad's '03--Auto, Banks 6-gun, intake/exhaust, factory turbo



What kind of boost should he be seeing? It won't go above 24-25. He bought it used with all the above already there. It doesn't look like there's a boost elbow or anything similar there. Don't know much about that particular truck. Can he do anything to run more boost? Should he?

Mine won't go past 24 with any of the boxes I have tested. According to the tests made in issue 48 any more than that and you just make the boost charge hotter.

I see no more than a spike to 26 then it settles to 24 at WOT.



With a Quad Xzillaraider on 60 I have seen 28, on 100 I've seen 30, and on 140 it would hit 34 (Only tried the 140 once).



EGT's never over 1150 or so.



Not that it's a good thing. As Matt said, issue 48 indicates that the intake charge temp goes through the roof when the turbo is asked to perform out of it's efficiency map.



Perhaps excess IAT can be combatted by misting the charge air cooler, much like a Subaru WRX STI???

I did not install a boost elbow. The truck was basically stock with the exception of an AFE intake and Banks exhaust.



I know Banks sells a waste gate actuator for our trucks to increase boost. Not necessary IMO.

Stock you should see 24psi. . I'll see up to about 30 -31 psi at times.
