I was just curious of the boost levels of stock '03-'06 HPCR engines. In one TDR issue They had the peak boost for the previous generations. A friend of mine has EDGE Juice w/ attitude and in the stock setting it goes as high as 38psi. That seems a bit high when the turbo loses efficiency after 24psi of boost. I just curious what some other people get. His truck is an '05 6sp w/ AFE intake.

Keep 'er shiny side up

I know on my 04. 5 600 that completely stock boost would spike to 34psi and settle to between 28-30psi on sustained WOT. With the Juice/Attitude, air intake and exhaust it would spike to 40-41psi and settle to 36-38psi on sustained WOT. Even with the Juice/Attitude set to stock level 0 there is still boost fooling going on. That is why you can see higher boost levels than without the Juice/Attitude.

I've got an X-Monitor that stores the peak values. The highest I've seen on my bone stock '05 is 32. 5 pounds. While towing heavy up long hills it holds 28-29 pounds.

My 03 stock would push 24 psi but the electric wastegates of 04. 5 and up are a diffrent animal. I've heard much higher numbers. Keep it under 40 and he should be OK.

I live at 7000ft of altitude and travel up "the hill" quite a bit with my truck. It spikes a little over 30 and settles in at 29-30 psi.

A few weeks ago I had the truck in MN. The weather was colder(imagine that) and I couldn't get all of my boost, only mid 20's. Never figured out what the deal was but it has returned to normal since I have been home.

Hi Fellas, I'm seeing boosts much higher with my Edge/attitude. I've got it se to defuel at 32 but I'll go higher than 40 with out the back down.

yeah, mines the same way... I"m curious if the intake temps are too low that that the PCM just pulls everthing back. Typicaly when the temps are < 30 out will this happen.

I just got back from a trip to the Sierras. I noticed a few things regarding boost.

Stock my truck would produce 24psi boost max. This was the same after intake/exhaust mods.

With a Quad Race module, I could see 30psi on the highest settings.

Now I'm running a TST with the boost elbow. With boxes turned down, I can hit 26-27psi. If my clutch would hold with the boxes turned up, I'm sure I'd see 35+psi.

Now for the high altitude part:

At sea level, my TST (reading the MAP sensor) and my Isspro EV boost gauge read the same boost levels.

In the mountains, the TST was reading anywhere from 2-5psi less than the Isspro gauge. I guess that's why it's called a "Manifold Absolute Pressure" sensor, instead of a boost sensor. A boost gauge is going to be affected by the lack of air pressure at high elevations. If the truck was reading boost like the gauge, you'd never get full fueling.

The TST remote seems to subtract sea level pressure from absolute and that's what it displays. It's always off a little at high altitude.

I use the Attitude monitor for boost. On level one I can peg 39 psi no prblem, and hold 34 up a grade. On level 3 it gets to 39 awful fast.

Just remember that the Juice/Attitude boost reading is coming from the ECM and is read off of the MAP sensor. According to knowledgeable people here and other sites there are electrical limitations of that sensor. It is physically only able to read up to around 40psi of boost accurately. This is documented in the TST install instructions. Reading ECM boost will not be accurate over 40psi.

Good point. Max output on my sensor is 40 psi. Accuracy becomes comprimised about 37 in comparison to my other gauges.

I agree, I was being kind in saying not accurate over 40psi. My Juice/Attitude was not accurate over 36psi also. It just started creeping up some if any at 36psi, while the Autometer would jump to where ever the SPS66 was actually at.

On my '05 I can get 55psi for a few seconds then it falls off to about 45 due to the electronic wastegate on the factory charger, and the boost fooling on the TST. It'll do that on anything above 3/3. (yes i know that 55psi is sure death for the little guy but my foot won't listen. ) oh and by the way that is with the plastic intercooler. Bone stock it normally gets between 30 and 35.

Good luck :-laf :-laf

So if I'm understanding this correct, if you have the juice / attitude, essentially it'll waste your stock charger? becasue it surpasses 35psi on any level? Doesnt the thing defuel to prevent that?

I have a 03 SO. I have the edge elbow, ramifier race box and BDDL on extreme. I can hit 42. 5 lbs no problem, but the 1550 egt makes me back down. :--)
