Boost turn it up or turn it down!!

I am still new to all the diesel mods. .

I have read that people say that they turned the boost up and down!!

My ? is how do you go about just tuning it up or down??

I have just installed a boost gauge and only get 21psi max. . I do have a TST plate but really do not know which one( did not know I could get in various sizes then) Plate is slide forward and I also have the AFC kit... I make a little smoke at WOT but no big black cloud. . So I have decided to not adjust the AFC star wheel any more. .

My truck is kind of flat at the take off but it comes in real quik!!Just not to sure how much boost should be there????

You should have recieved a replacement boost elbow that would bring boost up to 28-30 psi. I would check to see if that was installed. The way to tell is the elbow coming off turbo will have a very very small hole cross drilled in it. If it is solid brass that would be stock one. If you have the elbow off then you would also notice inside diamter is very small also like 1/64 or thereabouts.

your replacement tst elbow should have an allen nut at the elbow,or at least mine does. Iam making 28psi of boost at WOT

I can't tell by your signature if you have an Auto or Man transmission , but at a recent camping trip among other Cummins owners I noticed the Autos elbows were located at the Turbo and the Manuals were located behind the fuel pump. these were 96,97 model trucks. I change my inj. BD 215's and the boost elbow/set screw came with the inj. kit. Mine pegs at 34 psi. Hope this helps.

Which plate do you have? You should be building more than 21 psi. Have you checked for blown boots or leaks? With the TST #11 you should be around 32psi.

my boost elbo is a pipe plug. 44psi

The elbow was replaced by the one from TST that came with the plate... Not to sure about plate size!! did not know there was different one avail. when I decided to purchase and was not asked either. . So I got what came in mail. . It did make a huge diff. though. .

My boost is at WOT 21-22 psi... . But when in 4th gear(auto transmission) my boost will creep on up to 25-28 psi. . not to sure about this. . And then at those boost levels my EGT is up around 1250-1350. . back off the foot!!!!
