Does anyone know where you can get a size 14 in boots? I can not find boots to save my life. I found a pair of Danners for $179 and I really wasn't wanting to spend that kind of money. Are Danners really that good of a boot? Would they hold up with being used on a farm? I tried ordering some Rocky work boots, but they are back ordered till June. With big feet your choices are limited and hard to find. I would appreciate some websites or places to call.

Do you have a Wal-mart super center near by? I've bought 14's there. Most of my boots have been issued by Uncle Sam, that is till recently when I retired. Sorry I couldn't be more help.



PS Danners are a good quality boot.

They have Justin work boots up to size 14.



I personally prefer the Ariat work boots, but I have flat feet and the Ariats are more comfortable to me. You might find them in your size elsewhere. Mine are over 3 yrs old and I wear them almost daily and are showing no signs of giving up.

Don't know about Danners, but I love Rocky boots. They have always lasted me well. I only wear then every couple weekends or so, the rockys used to last me 5 years per pair.



Last pair of boots I bought I did not feel like dropping $140. 00 on Rockys and I saw a set of redwings on sale for $90. 00 on closeout. Worse pair of boots I ever owned. The sole cracked in 1/2 on both boots, and the stiching ripped out when I caught it on a stick just walking through the woods. This was in the first summer I owned them. After raising hell Redwing gave me a new set for free. Within 1 year the sole on them is cracking where my foot bends. The boots are still almost brandnew looking, so I was thinking of getting them re-soled.



My next pair will be rockys again.

Redwings breaking down huh? I've had a pair of Redwing "loggers" for the last year a half that I've worn probably 5 out of 7 days/week on average, and the only thing I've worn out is the soles, and they still look decent. The leather looks a little rough, but that comes with working outside. I'm guessing you just got some defectve pairs. What style did you buy?

I was wanting Rockies but I can't find what I'm looking for in a 14. I have always had good luck with them. I am going to continue to keep looking. People say the good thing with the Danner's is that you can get them resoled and I would not care to spend the money if I knew the leather sides would make it through as well. I sure do appreciate the info. I get mad every time I try to find boots or shoes.

I swore by Danners, now I swear at them

After wearing Danners for the last thirty years I was truly ticked at the last pair I ordered, the same type and name went from high quality US made to Chinese junk without any notice whatsoever, I sent them back with a nasty note. Their reply was sorry but we have to sell Chinese junk to remain competitive.

Go with White Boots, they may cost a lot but will be the last pair you buy http://www.whitesboots.com/

I went with their lightest boot called the Hiker ($212), plenty heavy duty for farm work and perfect fit. You can't order over the net because they want an outline of your foot, you must request a catalog.

I've had a pair of danners for years, resoled them twice. I love them, but like bill said they may be turning the tables and producing cut rate cheapo's now. Mine are old tried and true. I might look at those white boots now. For large feet i've always been told to deal directly with the company. Danner is pretty good about service. I've sent my boots to them to get resoled with now problems.

After getting tired of Wal-Mart junk when I was about 15, I got a pair of Redwings. They did OK until I started working with asphalt and concrete, then they went to he11 real fast. Tried Wolverines, and they were alright, but I would run through a pair of them about every 6-8 months as the stitching wore out of them. Tried a pair of Tony Lama's but I couldn't handle walking around on stone all day with no sole, and the stitching wore out of them pretty quick, too. Now I'm wearing Double H, and they seem to hold up better than any of the others, and are comfortable and soft, too.



When I worked out in Denver a couple of summers ago, an old-timer that ran our concrete pump was telling me about some boots made out of boar hide?! He said they would stand up to anything, and were comfortable, too. Anybody know anything about this?

Spend the money on the White's. They're the boot of choice for wildland firefighters here. I've had mine for three seasons and haven't burn 'em up yet. They're rebuildable as well. I know several guys that have had theirs for years and they just get 'em resoled... .



Pricey ($300+) but they'll last for a long time... ... ... .

I feel your pain(looking for a big and comfortable boot). I have tried Red Wings. Rocky. K-mart, and Wally World. I keep going back to the Wolverine Durashock. Because they are comfy. I am on my third pair, the company buys one pair a year. I get the lace ups. This way I can adjust the tightness on my big feet. I wear a 13eee. I hate breaking in a new pair of shoes,boots,sneekers:{

I'll have to second on the white brothers boots... . I wear a size 14 AAA boot..... impossible to find on the store shelves, and ordering from catelogs is hit or miss on good fit. I ordered a pair of White boots back in 98 or 99, and I'm still wearing them. I've gone through probably 20 pairs of leather laces, and had the soles redone here recently. The pair I bought were the loggers, real heavy leather, with big lugged soles... . best 400. 00 I've ever spent, because before I bought these, I was wearing a pair out every year and at 125 - 150 apeice, it was adding up. I'll probably get at least several more years of wear out of these boots.

I've had three sets of Danner's and I think they make a great product. I think if you look you'll see that only a few of the models that the make are actully made in china. I bought a new set last year and they're still made in the good ole USA. Also, You might want to look at Caterpiller Brand boots. I have a set (size 14 also) that is re-soleable and has taken a terrible amount of abuse but held up great. The bonus with the Caterpiller is they were only about $90. 00. If your like me you'll have to order them from a boot store to get the size 14's but they might be just the ticket for you.

P. S. - I use the caterpiller's for my mowing business, as well as general kicking around and if a weedeater won't tear them up then I doubt that farming would either.

About the only things harder on boots than farming is concrete work and walking in hot embers firefighting.

In farming your boots are constantly getting wet then dust dried. The nitrogen from green crops/grass and manure tends to eat the leather also. Mine rarely get dried out before a hydraulic leak oils them for me.

I just wanted to add that the three pairs or Danner's that I have are for just that purpose(firefighter). I don't actually fight fire in them but they are the boots that I wear every minute that I'm not wearing my bunker gear. I still have the first set of Danner's and they are frickin tough as S*#t. I only bought the other two pair because I had extra clothing allowance that I had to spend. In other words the first pair of Danner's that I bought a little over 5 years ago are still in great shape and other than a few nicks and scratches would pass for new. This is a boot that with the right care could concieveably last a good 10-15 years with a few re-soles and lots of leather treatments

I ordered a white's catalog, but right now I can not afford to pay $200 to $400 for a pair of boots. I finally found some Rockies on the Internet from a place in Georgia. I believe the name of it was Sears Shoe Store. Nice looking waterproof leather boot for $89. Buying boots and shoes is one of the most aggravating things to me. The thing that chafs my butt is a place says they have large sizes and you call them to have them tell you their sold out or that the boot is back ordered.

Don't get me wrong.

They might be great boots, but the ones on white's website look kind of girly. Pointy toes and forward raked heels? Kind of remind me of women's boots from the 1880s.



I work on Gas Compressors and wear lace-up Red-Wings, but some of our compressors are so poorly maintained, they get oiled quite frequently.
